A TOUCH of technology is being added to patrol vehicles of the Policía Local de Murcia. This year they are launching a new intervention program, which aims to be completed before summer. Patrol vehicles will be fitted with additional GPS electronic tablets, to assist agents in finding their way to isolated properties in the countryside. The Council aims to improve protecting
these scattered dwellings located around the municipality that are often targeted by thieves because the properties are in remote locations. This was announced at a press conference this week by Mayor Miguel Angel Cámara and the Councillor for Security and Human Resources, Nuria Fuentes who stressed that the goal of adding the new technology is “to help facilitate access by the police in emergencies, who have to travel to these places.”
Homeowners who wish to participate in this plan must “localize” their homes and register on a Police database that is specifically designed for this program. Should an alarm be raised, it will communicate a phone number that will be linked to the property allowing Police to communicate with the house owners and to locate the dwelling using satellite technology.
