Pilar de la Horadada receive quality flags for their beaches
by Keith Nicol THIS SUMMER, the 11 beaches that make up the coast of Pilar de la Horadada were awarded flags of quality by the Generalitat Valenciana for its certification in Quality and Environment. They will be flying 11 Qualitur Banderas and 4 Blue Flags to signify their quality. The Minister of Tourism of the Generalitat, Max Buch and the Environment Councillor, Ivan Romero handed over flags to various municipalities at a
ceremony in Gandia. In reference to the Qualitur Flags, Romero noted that: “these flags represent a recognition of the work done in the areas of Environment and Tourism by the Municipality of Pilar de la Horadada. The flags signify the fact that there are more attractions for tourists visiting our shores and a confirmation of the excellence and quality of them. This recognition adds to Qualitur 4 Blue Flags that will also fly this summer.” The “Qualitur” flags are distinctive in that the Valencian Government recognises the beaches with a
certificate of quality for their environmental and / or accessibility issues, thus helping to promote the top beaches. The distinctive “Blue Flag” is an award that certifies the environmental quality created and managed by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), which has been running since 1987. In order to keep the beaches looking their very best, thousands of cubic meters of sand will be distributed on the beaches of Pilar de la Horadada in the next few days. Continued on page 8
