MEMBERS OF the local ex-pat community on the Camposol Urbanisation in Mazarrón have a number of religious organisations and worship options, amongst them the St Nicholas Ecumenical Church, which welcomes worshippers of all denominations and nationalities. The church runs services in both English and German, Mazarrón having an active German community, with around 200 people participating in
the German language religious activities undertaken by the church, as well as an enthusiastic English speaking community which has a busy social and worship schedule. Last week the Ecumenical Church donated a purpose built wheelchair to a child in Mazarrón, who suffers from a rare disease. The chair cost €1,925, the money raised by the church community . Reverend Conrad Krause, of the Ecumenical Church, says that he first learned about the special needs of the youngster through the social services
in Mazarrón, and set about raising the money by first a newspaper appeal in a German language paper, which raised 900 euros, then residents of the El Alamillo urbanisation donated a boat, which was sold for 1100 euros. The chair was presented to the family last week by Reverend Conrad and a member of the congregation, Antonio González “El Alemán” who worked with the Councillor for Social Policy in Mazarrón Town Council, María Martínez, to facilitate the purchase.
