Almond blossom in the Jalon Valley
Nature in bloom
THE ANNUAL exhibition of colourful almond blossom in the Jalon Valley continues to draw visitors to see one of nature’s wonders. The fragile pink and white blossom has so far survived the strong winds and provides a wonderful display of flowers in the sunshine – reminding us all spring is on its way.
The youngster raced to the 10-year-old’s side after hearing his cries for help in the car park at Oliva sports centre last Friday evening where hundreds of children play in ‘multisport’ competitions after school. One mother-of-three told RTN the car park was “organised bedlam” after the activities ended with hundreds of kids running round. “The older boy is called Pablo and he heard his younger brother screaming and ran over, kicked the guy and they all ran off,” she said. “He saw what was happening and managed to rescue his brother. “On a Friday night it is organised bedlam – there are kids running around and everyone is screaming. You would not know if someone was trying to take someone because of all the noise.”
WORRY She said the scare was “a massive worry” as her children used the sports centre four nights a week. “I need to know they are safe when they are there.” And she said the police presence at the sports centre had been stepped up last weekend following the incident. “My 10-year-old came home from school on Monday and said his teacher had spoken to them all about the incident. “They were told those who walk home must walk in groups of four, they would not be allowed to walk home alone and they must tell their parents of the situation.” Warnings have since appeared on local police websites and parents have used social networking sites to pass on information and concerns.
