Lisa Fox
Mabs race for life
COSTA BLANCA runner Lisa Fox warmed up for the Edinburgh Marathon by joining in the fun of the MABS Race for Life in Moraira last weekend. Lisa, from Benissa, is training hard for her second run round the streets of the Scottish capital and on May 23rd she will again be raising money for the MABS Cancer Support Group. She joined 235 others – plus babies, toddlers and assorted dogs - at the MABS Support Centre at Sol Park on Sunday to complete a more genteel 6.2km course – although its hills were a bit tricky – and raise cash for the charity. Parents and friends have struggled as stand in teachers after youngsters were unable to attend classes at Nau Learn in Javea – the school housed in the villa of David and Sarah Berry on Cap de la Nau. The gates were closed after neighbours on La Siesta urbanisation questioned the legality of the private school, attended by more than 20 pupils, and its health and safety procedures. by Jack Troughton dren were receiving. Now they claim they have been “duped” and allege the owners have so far refused to release the vital ‘forecasts’ of students’ expected exam grades. And parents say those that paid fees in advance have yet to be reimbursed and several deadlines for repayment have already passed. Yesterday (Thursday) Mrs Berry said parents should contact Nau Learn’s lawyer. She said: “It is a legal issue.” RTN contacted the British Council in Madrid. Education services manager John Carrivick confirmed Mr Berry had been in contact on at least two occasions to inquire about the regulations for authorising and setting up a foreign school in Spain.
