The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez and the Councillor for Citizen Participation, visited the headquarters of the associations Cáritas Parroquial, Cruz Roja Mar Menor Norte and Amor por Amor (Love for Love), all recipients of the ‘Solidarity Shopping Basket’ or ‘cesta de la compra solidaria’ on Wednesday. Through this program, the City allocated a total of 20,000 euros in grants to these three associations in order to complement the products they receive from Cartagena and Murcia food banks, with the goal of providing the needy with a healthy diet that includes protein, vegetables, fruits and vitamins. The Mayor indicated that the City has prioritized its attention this year to the needy through various grants and said “the goal is to support and complement the work done by local associations working as distributors of the food bank, through coordination and cooperation between government and social partners and improve comprehensive care to the most needy the municipality.” The president of Caritas parish Antonio Tárraga, explained “this association, assists more than 500 people and has 6,000 euros earmarked for this project to complete the food to be given to the neediest families with products such as oil, sugar, tuna or tomato paste. We have over 20 years experience in the distribution of food staples and currently have a dozen volunteers working in this field.” Finally, the president of Love for Love (Amor por Amor),
