The education department want to extend bilingual teaching to all primary schools that have accredited teachers in languages and whose school boards give their approval. The Minister of Education, Culture and Universities, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, provided this information at an event to highlight the offer bilingual education to 30 primary and 17 secondary schools who have begun to offer this type of study. Sanchez said “the work that teachers and schools offer to provide the best training and teaching for students, providing them with above adequate language training, is increasingly demanded and offers greater opportunities for cultural
enrichment and employment, to the students. We want our students to be able to communicate in other languages; to be better trained and thus offer more opportunities for personal and professional development of our citizens,” said the Minister of Education, Culture and Universities. Antonio Sanchez noted that “the ‘+ Educational Quality + School Success’ strategy, which grants greater autonomy to schools, as well as the initiative ‘+ Languages’, shall be provided to the schools themselves, with the consensus of families. They select the number of subjects that students wish to take in a foreign language that also allows the flexibly to meet the different needs of students, by offering different educational responses.”
