Summer burglaries in Murcia GUARDIA CIVIL have asked visitors and residents to be especially vigilant as the region suffers a spate of robberies. by Keith Nicol

57 arrests have been made throughout Murcia since the start of the summer

The Guardia Civil has clarified that over fifty burglaries in the region have taken place since the beginning of the summer. So far 57 cases have been clarified as crimes and many items have been recovered as part of the stolen effects, which have been returned to their owners. To date they have arrested 42 people, including 11 minors, for robbery, receiving and damage to property. In some cases the Guardia Civil have had major co-operation of the local police. The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia, under the ‘Plan against burglary’ have been strengthening services in the tourist area, since the early summer. Most of the 57 crimes solved by the Guardia Civil have been committed by using force to

access properties for such items as money, jewellery parts, mobile phones, small appliances and personal items. Four of these robberies were committed with the robbers knowing that its inhabitants are indoors, usually at night, performing with such secrecy that the victims themselves do not detect the theft until the next morning. Murcia municipalities where arrests have been carried out include San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Los Alcazares, Torre Pacheco, Cartagena, Totana, Cieza, Abarán, Blanca, and Archena Bullas to name a few. Guardia Civil ask that all householders take special care to make sure that valuables, house and car keys are safely locked up and especially that all windows are kept closed at night and safety screens are installed.
