by Jack Troughton SCORES OF Santas mounted on gleaming Harley Davidson motorcycles roared through the Costa Blanca last Sunday on a mission to deliver Christmas presents to youngsters cared for by EMAUS. To enjoy a real winter warmer, forget the Ready Brek and just take part or watch this joy bringer of an annual treat for a very spe-
cial set of kids living in the charity’s homes. The old saying giving is better than receiving really holds true on the Costa Blanca Bikers Espana Group ‘Toy Run’. At an emotional journey’s end in Alfaz, greeted by excited children singing ‘Feliz Navidad’ it’s understandable why bikers need to wear dark glasses. RTN readers and advertisers can feel proud of making a handsome donation to the fund raising for this event – unfortunately, it was
impossible to bottle the cracking Christmas atmosphere to reward everyone who chipped in. And because the children are wards of court and in the care of social services, RTN is unable to print photographs of delighted youngsters receiving their gifts. Imagine over 100 Santas queuing to be handed an individually wrapped and tagged present. They then give each gift to a child to the cheers
and applause of the other youngsters. Two particular little ones – both aged three-years-old – are indelibly stamped in the memory for their saucer-eyed wonder at the whole occasion. The lad received a suitably sized toy motorbike - to be ridden Flintstone style, propelled by foot power. He was off before removing all the wrapping. Continued on page 3
