El Altet’s peaceful protest by Keith Nicol AENA STAFF at El Altet Elche- Alicante airport held a peaceful ‘sitting’ protest on Tuesday to demonstrate against the privatization of parking, which is managed by Aena. The proposed privatisation of Aena, who also control San Javier, Murcia among others, will initially involve the dismissal of four employees, but unions are concerned that throughout Spain this could turn into thousands. The Unions called for the peaceful protest to coincide with a natural break time, at 10.00am on Tuesday, when workers taking their recess were joined by dozens of other staff members who came to join the protest. Although Police were present, they never moved within 50 metres of the gathering, which was held in good humour and much posing for friend’s cameras.
