THIS WEEK, representatives from local Independent political parties signed an agreement to form an Independent Political Party Federation. Those signing up to collaborate together were the Alternativa Popular de Torrevieja, Renovación de Dolores, Coalición Valenciana de Albatera, Agrupación Popular de San Fulgencio, BenInde de Benijófar, CLr de Granja de Rocamora, UPCL de Bigastro, PADER de Rojales and Agrupación Democrática de Jacarilla. The idea behind the new federation is for Independent parties around the Vega Baja to work together, share ideas, offer electoral legal assistance and where possible advise on issues of local politics and attention to the media. Thus arises an organized movement that is part of the federation of independent parties of Alicante, Valencia and Castellón to offer an alternative force to the Partido Popular and the PSOE.
When adding up the numbers, the Independent parties of the Vega Baja, took 17,000 votes throughout the Vega Baja in the last municipal elections, which makes them the third force of the region, and who could presented themselves in the next election under a common name. As a combined party, their vote count could amount to them gaining representation outside their municipalities in the upcoming elections in both the Provincial Council of Alicante and in the Valencian Parliament, so that, in their words, the interests and needs of the citizens of the district of Vega Baja obtain a satisfactory answer! At the municipal level, each would retain its acronym and therefore their independence when it comes to defending the interests of their municipalities. The first step in this new alliance has been taken. Now begins the waiting and publicity game in the run up to the elections, which are presently scheduled for May 2015.
