THE CITIZEN’S Mailbox is the means to creating a virtual meeting point through which citizens can actively cooperate in municipal politics, participating in debates and putting forward proposals. This is achieved with the implementation of tools that encourage dialogue between the town or city councils and the citizens, allowing councils to react to any proposals that citizens suggest; as a tool to spread information about political activity in the municipalities, which can strengthen the communication channel between the local government and citizens; all though using such tools as writing blogs or sending emails. The Citizen’s Mailbox is one more tool for participation which the Generalitat Valenciana offers citizens in order to respond to enquiries, proposals or suggestions
concerning the town where you live. The Generalitat says that “Participating in the Citizen’s Mailbox is as easy as clicking and completing a simple form. Once the questionnaire has been sent, the / citizen / will receive an email to activate their account. Once it has been activated, the citizen will automatically be entitled to intervene. In this simple way you can access one or more of the municipalities participating in the project in order to make queries, requests or even put forward proposals which could eventually be discussed in the plenary of these councils.” Torrevieja’s Councillor for Citizen Participation, Agustina Esteve, said that “the city of Torrevieja has extending the service to the thousands of English speaking residents and visitors to the city” You can visit and leave your comments, simply by accessing the following website: www.buzonciudadano.gva.es.
