A PENSIONER went though a terrifying ordeal last month, when she was sexually assaulted during her normal afternoon stroll along Cala Mosca, close to Playa Flamenca. The victim, who prefers to remain anonymous, wanted her experience to be highlighted as a warming to other women that the predator is still at large and to watch out for any suspicious individuals in the area. She said, “After experiencing a terrifying sexual assault at 3.25 pm on Wednesday 26th March 2014. I feel I have to warn ladies who walk alone to be aware of the dangers of walking in lonely places.” The victim added; “The attack happened on the cliffs very close to Cala Mosca, Playa Flamenca, from the far end of the beach, by the paseo, up the steep slope onto the cliffs. There is a patch of bushes, and the attacker came out of these bushes. I had walked from here to Punta Prima, where I first saw this man. I continued walking along the promenade, then down onto the beach, then back up the steps, by the lift. I saw
the man again. He started to walk parallel to me, so I was a bit wary, then he got quite a way ahead of me, so I felt relieved but he kept stopping and looking all around. At this stage I was feeling a bit nervous, then I couldn’t see him, so alarm bells were ringing but by then, I was getting very close to Cala Mosca.” She added, “I walk along the coast most days, using different routes but last week, on a very windy day, I walked from Playa Flamenca along the cliffs to Punta Prima and had almost got back to Cala Mosca, when a man came out of the bushes. He said “Perdon”, so I thought he was going to ask me the time but he made obscene sexual gestures. I screamed and tried to walk away but he grabbed me from behind and sexually assaulted me. I was shouting and trying to fight him off, tried to run but tripped and fell over. I was very distressed and had difficulty trying to get up, the man stood in front of me, saying “Lo siento.” He offered his hand to help me up, which I accepted. Then I was screaming and shouting at him to leave me alone, I turned to walk away and again he grabbed me from behind and sexually assaulted me. Continued on page 8
