Valencia leads the way in tourism employment by Keith Nicol THE MINISTER of Economy, Industry, Tourism and Employment, Maximum Buch, stated that “three out of four jobs created in Spain within tourism in the past year have occurred in Valencia, where they have created 46,617 new jobs.” Valencia led the way when it came to job creation in the tourism sector, according to EPA data for the first quarter of 2014, an increase of 26.4% compared to an average increase of 3.1% throughout Spain. Buch made these remarks during a visit to the May Fair in Torrevieja, where he was accompanied by the town’s mayor, Eduardo Dolon. The Minister said that municipalities like Torrevieja is an excellent example of combining a large tourist and service offering that over the last year has led to a “raise in employment, lower unemployment Torrevieja’s and increased hiring.” May Unemployment has fallen in Torrevieja over the last year by 6.8%, Fair was seven percentage points more than the average decline of Spain.
