HAVE YOU seen something in Torrevieja that could be improved? Have a good idea as to how things could be done better? Have some positive criticism and maybe a solution for a problem? If so, now you have your chance to make your voice heard by Torrevieja’s Mayor, Eduardo Dolon and his team in the Town Hall. Over the last eight months, the Mayor, along with Rosario Martinez, Councillor for Foreigners, Youth and Education, and Jean Paul Mulero, Director of the Foreign Residents Office, have been meeting with many of the city’s groups and associations, looking for feedback and making many of their ideas a reality. Such feedback has led to the new campaign to encourage dog owners to clean up after their pets, for the city’s maintenance crews to remove household items that have been fly-tipped on council land and the removal of graffiti. Obviously there are matters that are outside of the council’s control. Many criticisms aimed at any party in power, no matter where in the democratic world one might be, are often from opposition parties with nothing more on their
agenda that to try and earn some political kudos. Opposition parties rarely offer a solution but sometimes even they may have a good idea and if so, expound on that and think of a possible worthy solution. The door is open for criticism, but along with it, what you consider might be a solution or two. Such things as bus routes and timetables, barriers in the centre of the N332, building of hotels and fixing school defects are not under the authority of the council however the council can approach the bus company, the national authority for roads, investment groups and the educational authority and make them aware of your concerns and ideas. One of Eduardo Dolon’s own ideas is that he wants to meet with each and everyone of Torrevieja’s clubs, groups and associations. From hobby groups to performers, classic See page artists, 34 cars, sports and social groups, he would personally like to meet with everyone and, if invited, to attend one of your meetings. If you have a great idea or you would like the Mayor to listen to what the council could possibly do for you, all you need do is send an email to: TorreviejaIdeas@gmail.com to help improve life in the City of Salt.
