by Jack Troughton & Keith Nicol BRITISH EXPATS are at the vanguard of the fight against the poverty in Spain as the chill of ‘La Crisis’ bites ever deeper across society. Donations totalling hundreds of thousands of euros are being made to organisations like Caritas, the Red Cross, and town hall social services departments from expat charities, clubs and societies, and big-hearted individuals.

Wherever Brits migrate throughout the four corners of the globe, they start to help others less fortunate – and there is no better example than in RTN-land. Charity is part of the British DNA. And with the festive season in full swing, the “unsung heroes” stepped up a gear and are selflessly hard at work proving in the true spirit of Christmas, giving is infinitely better than receiving. British Consul Paul Rodwell and his Alicante-based team launched the ConeXiones project, an initiative to get charities and associations working alongside social services and Spanish charities.
