ELDERLY VICTIMS of a “premeditated” bank fraud are being targeted by a bullying administrator even as alleged ring-leaders of the scam face justice, an action group maintains. Tragically, 41 members of the Spanish group have died in the seven years since the affair came to light – some committed suicide. It has also destroyed marriages, split families, triggered ill health and financially ruined lives. However, victims have been given hope. Directors and officers of a failed Icelandic bank will join the finance house itself in a Paris trial
after a “historic judgement” by Judge Renaud Van Ruymbeke in France, following a two year investigation. But as pensioners celebrated a major step forward in their fight with Landsbanki Luxembourg – and the prospect of seeing the saga aired in public in one of France’s biggest ever criminal trials – it appears liquidator Yvette Hamilius is ruthlessly demanding another throw of the dice in the equity release scandal. The Landsbanki Victims Action Group (LVAG) says Ms Hamilius is now sending summonses to pensioners in Spain and France demanding they travel to Luxembourg to face trial over alleged debts.
