Highnesses looked happy and relaxed as they mingled with 300 guests on the lawn of the British Ambassador’s Residence in Madrid. They took the time to shake hands with everyone
of the throng assembled under a marquee and visibly enjoyed chatting and joking with guests who had travelled from as far away as the Balearics and the Canaries. And told by a young Spanish lady that he was very good looking, the prince – possibly remembering fa-
mous snaps of being kissed in the Australian surf – replied: “Please don’t start all that again!” The reception was staged during the official visit to allow the senior members of the Royal Family to personally thank representatives of a network of voluntary
organisations and charities for their tireless efforts in helping a million strong British community living across Spain – and some 15 million visitors arriving each year from the UK. Continued on page
