Another fatality on the N332 THE NOTORIOUSLY dangerous section of the N332 between La Marina and Santa Pola claimed another life this week after a Dutch tourist failed to recover from his injuries from a car crash on Friday afternoon.
The car and van involved in the collision
by Keith Nicol THE MOST seriously injured person involved in Friday´s crash, the 65 year old driver of the car, died from his injuries at the Hospital General de Elche, having been in a coma since the incident. According to witnesses involved in the crash, a “gust of wind” could have diverted
the van and ‘blown’ it into the left hand lane causing the head on collision that destroyed the small rented hatchback the Dutch family were travelling in. Three people were seriously injured and three others suffered minor injuries in the traffic accident at kilometre 81 of Highway 332, between Santa Pola and La Marina. Among the seriously injured was the driver of the car who has since passed away.
The victim´s wife and daughter are being treated in the Vinalopó Hospital. The 16 month old baby is said to be in a critical condition having suffered severe head trauma in a hospital in Alicante. The 28 year old van driver suffering various contusions and multiple injuries was taken to the General Hospital of Elche. The crash occurred around 1.00pm and the road was closed to traffic until after 3.00pm.
The interruption affected traffic for about nine kilometres along the N-332 as the road was blocked off to traffic.
