GSGNY Get Outdoors Guide 2018 - 2019
Get s r o o Outd e d i u G Septem ber 2018 to May 2 019
Dear Girl Scouts, Welcome to the 2018-19 Camp Kaufmann Seasonal Guide! In this guide, you will find all of the tools you need to plan a trip to Camp. Camp Kaufmann is like a second home to my five daughters and me. I love seeing how happy camp makes them, but also appreciate the impact that each experience has on them. Our National Girl Scout Research Institute recently found that when girls get outside, they: • • •
Discover that they can better solve problems and overcome challenges Develop leadership skills, build social bonds, and are happier overall Become team players and care more about protecting our environment
When girls spend quality time outdoors and increase their exposure to nature, they thrive physically, emotionally, and intellectually!

Camp Kaufmann Troop Camping Transportation Although the council does not provide transportation, you still have several options to get to camp. • Drive to camp - we have plenty of parking! • Order a bus - You may use any coach bus available, as long as they provide you with a certificate of liability–for 5 million to certificate holder: Girl Scouts of Greater NY. Forward all certificates to dmarcial@girlscoutsnyc.org • Take the train! Take the Metro North – Harlem line to the Patterson Station. Camp is ten to fifteen minutes away by car. The Pawling Taxi Company can get you to camp from there. Their number is 845.877.9595.
Food All special events, day trips and girl only events include food. Please contact us if you have any allergies or diet restrictions. If you are planning a troop camping weekend you will be responsible for bringing all of your own food. If you do not want to transport all of it, you have the option of using Peapod! Peapod.com is an online grocery delivery service. The groceries will arrive at camp and we will put them in your unit for you. If you are going to use this service, please call Peapod at least 72 hours in advance of your trip. Once you have completed your order, please email your confirmation to Maggie Vasquez at. BE CERTAIN YOUR ORDER CONTAINS THE NAME OF THE UNIT YOU ARE STAYING IN! Having the Unit name on the order helps us and Peapod be sure the orders are going to the right troop. Set up your delivery between 12 pm and 4 pm on the Friday your troop arrives.
