We are excited to offer Urban Day Camp in all 5 boroughs this summer! Girl Scouts of Greater New York is offering Urban Day Camp in order to provide opportunities for elementary school-aged girls to get outdoors and explore all the amazing attractions New York City has to offer. Compared with the rest of our country, girls in New York City have far fewer opportunities to experience nature. We feel we have a responsibility to connect our city girls with the natural world and the environment around them. Therefore, each week the camp will go on several adventures to parks, unique outdoor places, urban gardens and more. In addition to getting girls outdoors, this program will reinforce science concepts through hands-on, fun activities and will combat summer learning loss by engaging girls in reading and science every single day. Urban Day Camp helps girls become engaged and hungry learners. Girls will also gain the necessary skills to become leaders in the community and advocates for the natural world, as they participate in a community-based service project at the end of each week. Space is limited, so please sign up now. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us. I hope to see you and your girl at one of our camps this summer!
Sincerely,
Ingrid Aravena Urban Day Camp Manager

Trips Each week, your girl will go on at least three trips. We work closely with partner organizations to create unique, customized adventures filled with excitement, discovery, and fun. We take great pride in ensuring that your girl will be outside, exploring, and experiencing nature the majority of her time at camp.
S.T.E.A.M. Urban Day Camp revolves around “Fun-ducation.” The program and curricula are designed to combat summer learning loss by teaching science, technology, engineering, and math in engaging, fun ways that are relevant to our city girls. Every day, campers practice their literacy skills as they read books about inspiring girls and women. Girls will return to school refreshed, confident, and ready to tackle learning with their newly gained skills and knowledge.
Service Service and leadership are essential to the Girl Scouts’ mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Every Friday, campers participate in a community service project using the skills and knowledge they have gained throughout the week. Projects range from building oyster homes on the Hudson River or recording data about trees in the community, to making dog toys for local animal shelters.
