Why Girl Scout Camp? Girl Scout camp is a place where girls get to try new things and overcome fears while gaining confidence and independence. It’s where girls will make new friends in an environment just for girls. It’s where girls get to be Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, Leaders™. It’s where girls camp like a G.I.R.L.! Thank you to our summer camp sponsors as of December 20, 2019, for helping to provide new and exciting adventures for the girls. We appreciate our corporate and foundation sponsors including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation; Spirit AeroSystems, Inc.; Cargill; Mosby Lincoln Foundation; Juliette’s Pearls Leadership Society; and individual donors, Dee Rolph, Joan Wagner and Ryan Doll for supporting the girls as they explore the world around them in an environment created just for them.

Advice From Experienced Campers "Camp was amazing this year, just like every year. There’s so much to do. At first I was scared to go to my overnight camp because it was the first year that my mom wasn’t going to go, and that I wouldn’t make any friends. But I did! I had a great time. I went zip lining and swimming and to the target range. I was afraid a lot but I got over it and went for it. You might be scared at first but I bet that you will have a lot of fun. Have a great time at camp!" Girl Scout Cadette
"Being a Girl Scout has opened many opportunities for me, especially getting to go to camp! At camp, I have learned everything from creating the traditional s'more, how to make swaps, and even getting to zip line across the lake! Along the way, you even get to meet more Girl Scout sisters. Being at camp has taught me many useful life lessons. I will never forget the Girl Scout way, thank you! I can’t wait to see you at camp!" Girl Scout Cadette
"Some advice that I would give to future campers is to attend camps and trips with your troop or through the council. You will meet new people from different places in Kansas and you will have so many good friends by your side doing the same thing as you. Also, as a future camper I strongly advise that you clean up your camp ground area and put your food away because you WILL have some new friends eating your food. Always keep your area clean because the campground owner will definitely let you go back if your spot is cleaner then how you found it. Finally, just have fun! Be yourself because people will appreciate you more if you are your true self." Girl Scout Ambassador

CAMP VOLUNTEER &
Staff Opportunities
I want to volunteer at summer camp! Select opportunities for you to As a volunteer, you’ll introduce girls to new volunteer at our camp sessions: experiences that show them they’re capable of more than they ever imagined. They’ll each find their inner G.I.R.L.s (Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, Leaders)™ after all! You’ll be their cheerleader, guide, and mentor—helping them develop essential life skills and confidence that will last a lifetime. Imagine the excitement, the impact, the memories made—those are the moments you’ll share at Girl Scouts.
• Be a group leader - help girls navigate camp and get to their activities. • Share your expertise – lead a game, experiment, craft, or activity. We’ll match your skills to our camp plans. • Chaperone the bus – sing with excited campers in the morning and watch happily, exhausted ones in the afternoon as they travel between the Wichita Girl Scout office and Starwoods during day camp sessions. • And much more!
Sign Me Up! Ready to Volunteer? Please contact us at info@ gskh.org to find out about opportunities at the camp session of your choice.
How can I be a part of this ALL summer long? If you are free and available for a whole summer of fun, consider applying for a camp staff position! Check out available opportunities at kansasgirlscouts.org. SUMMER 2020

Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors can earn the Service to Girl Scouting award (shown above) by volunteering 20 hours of community service to benefit Girl Scouts. Serving as a Green Teen is one of the best ways to complete these hours. Green Teens help plan and deliver Girl Scout programs and serve as mentors to younger Girl Scouts while being supervised by adult volunteers and event chaperones. Green Teen opportunities coincide with council events and may have a themed name such as Spookmaster or Prefect. Green Teens get on-the-job training and serve an important role in the success of events.

Travel From local field trips to international excursions, travel is a big part of the Girl Scout experience! Limited spots remain for our June 2021 council trip to Belize—contact the council at info@gskh.org today to learn more. A tropical paradise with miles of shimmering blue Caribbean coastline and lush jungle canopies, Belize is bursting with diverse wildlife and a sense of adventure. See native jungle animals up close on multiple nature hikes, fly through the treetops on a zipline, and snorkel in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. Ancient ruins, cave tubing, and a riverboat cruise ensure this will be an adventure you will never forget. Highest Awards The Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards are the highest honors a Girl Scout can earn. All three awards give you the chance to do big things while working on an issue you care about. To earn these awards, you’ll design and implement a Highest Award Take Action project. Once you’ve completed your project, you’ll have made a bold,
sustainable impact on the world—and you’ll have put in some serious work. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d be honored to pin this prestigious award to your Girl Scout uniform! Check out our revamped information for more details and training on how you can make the world a better place by searching for "Highest Awards" on our website.

Types of Camp Experiences Resident Camp*
Is your camper a Junior or older? She can eat, sleep, and live the camp life for a full week, from Sunday evening through Friday evening. She will choose from activities that will help her build life skills along with outdoor skills, boating, target sports, horses, and much more. During the week, she will earn badges, cook over the campfire, and have plenty of time for swimming, relaxing, and getting to know her new camp friends. Campers will be staying in primitive campsites which include tents, yurts, and Chipette Nests (elevated, covered platforms that allow for Flint Hill breezes). Girls can request to be in the same unit as up to two friends at registration.
Mini Resident Camp*
This option is for Brownies and older who would like to try out the resident camp experience without staying the full week. Campers spend four days and three nights swimming, playing, learning, and earning badges. Your camper will participate in activities such as arts and crafts, target sports, high adventure, boating, and much more to fill her days with the activities that interest her. Campers will be staying in cabins or tents and can request to be in the same unit as up to two friends at registration.
Chipette Nests, only at Four Winds
Troop Camp
If your troop would like to go to camp together, troop camp is a great option! Troop leaders and/or troop support volunteers must register and attend to meet adult-to-girl camping ratios for their troop. You will arrive Friday evening and depart Sunday morning. Troops will spend evenings and overnights together, and during the day, girls will work towards badges and also participate in traditional camp activities such as target sports, swimming, arts & crafts, and more. Troops will be camping in tents and cooking some meals outdoors, so they should plan to bring their own tents, camping gear, and outdoor cooking equipment.
Day Camp
For novice campers who prefer a day only experience, Starwoods day camps are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with busing provided from and back to the Wichita Girl Scout office each day. Day campers will participate in a variety of activities depending on their age, including swimming, archery, climbing, team building, and boating.
Platform tents, at all 3 camp properties
*TRANSPORTATION is provided to specific camps from and back to any of the GSKH regional offices (excludes Wichita) for groups of six or more. Email us at info@gskh.org to request transportation and you’ll be notified two weeks before camp if the minimum has been met.

The official beginning of summer camp programs is May 15, so girls will attend spring sessions through May 14 as the grade they are finishing, and summer camps on or after May 15 as the grade they are going into.
