SIGNAT URE EVE NT S//////// Third Annual Carrying the Torch: Girl Scout Convention on Women’s Rights Join us in Seneca Falls, birthplace of the women’s rights movement, as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the passing of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution— granting American women the right to vote. We have a dynamic and incredible lineup of program sessions, open to all ages. The schedule is girl-led—design your own day by registering for the sessions you wish to attend.

Honor the impact of the women’s suffrage movement in New York State while celebrating how girls of today carry the torch of equal rights through civic engagement. Learn about past achievements made by women as you find your own voice to speak up, take action and advocate for issues you’re passionate about in today’s world! Highlights include: • Sessions led by Alice Paul Institute, which educates the public about the life and work of Alice Paul who led the final fight to get women the vote and wrote the Equal Rights Amendment • Performance about the suffrage movement by Living Voices, an educational theatre company that brings life to history • Global Action Award activities surrounding the 2020 theme of gender equality • Meet Elizabeth Cady Stanton—portrayed by Dr. Melinda Grube, PhD, descendant of a Seneca Falls abolitionist family and adjunct lecturer of history at Cayuga Community College Registration required. Save the Date: STEM-tacular Saturday!

Have you ever looked up at the stars and thought, "I'd love to go there?" Meet someone who has! This special event brings the first woman space shuttle pilot to Corning for an exclusive Girl Scout event. Eileen Collins will talk to girls about her amazing career in space science, host a Q & A session and meet and greet! Girls will explore careers in STEM and participate in hands-on STEM activities. This is one STEMtacular day you won't want to miss! More details will be released on our website in the spring.
