Sue Healey En Route ON VIEW 12 May - 9 June
Railways spark ideas about moving – being en route to somewhere else, somewhere out of the ordinary. Our ingenuity for devising ways to get from here to there - of travelling through space and time with acuity - is the driving force behind this film. Performers aged 3-103, dance the lines of abandoned NSW railways. Editor: Sue Healey. Cinematographer: Judd Overton. Music: Mike Nock and Lawrence Pike. Performers: Don Asker, James Batchelor, Elizabeth Cameron Dalman, Anca Frankenhaeuser, Lisa Griffiths, Ghenoa Gela, Patrick Harding-Irmer, Raghav Handa, Kei Ikeda, Eileen Kramer, Barnaby Scott, Marina Seet, Poppy Synnott, Aiya Ting, Nalina and Leila Wait.
Gaolhouse to Glasshouse Hastings Valley Fine Arts Association ON VIEW 12 May - 8 July Gaolhouse to Glasshouse is a celebration of the John Oxley Bicentenary by members of the Hastings Valley Fine Art Association (HVFAA). This exciting exhibition illustrates how artists from HVFAA interpret the last 200 years in our region while linking their work to some historical aspect of our past. Works range from the traditional to the modern in a variety of media and styles; reflecting as they do, an eclectic mix of individual artists. JASON
WING Artist in Residence 9 – 20 JULY
Jason Wing is a Sydney-based artist who strongly identifies with his Chinese and Aboriginal heritage. Wing began as a street artist and has since expanded his practice to incorporate photomedia, installation and painting. Influenced by his bi-cultural upbringing, Wing explores the ongoing challenges that impact his wider community. Wing will be Artist in Residence from 9 – 20 July 2018. During this time Wing will be working on new work which will form part of his exhibition at the Glasshouse from 13 October to 2 December. This is a great opportunity to meet a contemporary Australian artist and discuss his arts practice.

Over the last few years, the Glasshouse Regional Gallery has welcomed several artists into our Residency program. Each residency is different, involving different opportunities and outcomes for the artist and our community. Artist-in-residence programs have long existed in the arts world and their intent is to provide artists,
WHAT IS AN ARTISTIC RESIDENCY?
academicians, curators, and creative people with some time and space away from their usual daily life, environment and obligations. It’s a time to reflect, research, produce and create.
In some cases a residency, allows an artist to explore his/her practice within another community; meeting new people, using new materials, experiencing life in a new environment. Some of our winter artists in residence will become quite involved with our local community –giving workshops, or collaborating with local artists or the community. At other times, our artists may be quite secluded, this will enable them to focus and investigate their own practice without distraction. Some of our residencies will result in exhibitions, return visits and a new level of community involvement from the Gallery within the local community. Former Artists in Residence have included Blak Douglas, Meredith Woolnough, Michaela Swan, Stephen Mushin and Kate Scardifield. A Glasshouse Regional Gallery developed program connecting artists to the local community.

Gallery Conversations & more...
IN RECENT MONTHS we have been
working on creating more online content to share our stories and events in new and different ways.
One of our projects has been “Gallery Conversations” in the Glasshouse Regional Gallery with visiting artists. These are short informal chats and walks through the Gallery space with visiting artists. These unique intimate pieces enable you to hear about the exhibitions and artworks from the artists themselves – perhaps unpacking their exhibition, discussing their favourite works and the stories behind them.
Our recent Conversations series was with visiting artist David Griggs. It was so well received by Museums & Galleries NSW that it has been incorporated into their education resources for the exhibition and school students.
We share these on facebook, however you can also find them at on youtube and vimeo www.youtube.com/GlasshousePMQ www.vimeo.com/glasshousepmq
These Conversations have been made possible through a Digital Marketing Partnership with Percival Property.
