This conference has been designed to provide a regional perspective on the work being done around practical dementia care, in addition to hearing from experts from overseas and Australia. The speakers and workshop presenters are varied and will cover a wide variety of topics, including people living with dementia, carers, service providers, care staff, field workers, clinicians and the community. Black Mist Burnt Country is a national touring exhibition of artworks by over 30 Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists commemorating the British atomic tests in Australia in the 1950s. The exhibition revisits the history of the British atomic test program at Maralinga, Emu Field and Montebello Islands and examines the impact on people and land, as well as its on-going legacies. Visitors to the exhibition will learn about the social, political and environmental dimensions, while placing the Australian atomic tests in the context of the nuclear arms race and its present-day realities. It’s all about imagination, innovation and new methods of making, drawing on the high-tech and rapidly evolving world of 3D printers and fluid extrusion methodology. Featuring works by eight Australian and one international maker with works ranging from jewellery, furniture, prosthetics, and digital interactive sound works; Louis Pratt, Michael Eden, Lousje Skala, Ryan Pennings, Dr David Ackland, Lukasz Karluk and XYZ Workshop (Kae Woie Lim & Elena Low).
