Xolani Mandidi is a passionate civil engineer who thrives on helping people and making a difference in society.

A natural leader that manages people and projects with understanding and efficiency, Xolani has a thorough knowledge of his team’s ability and manages to challenge them to develop further while still ensuring they are supported. He has worked on numerous challenging projects in the past eight years, in numerous different areas, but those that give him the greatest sense of fulfilment, other than the technically stimulating projects, are those where he can see that he is helping the community through the development of schools, hospitals and other much needed services.

Since graduation, Xolani has furthered his education and development by an ongoing range of courses and certifications, including a Construction Project Management Certificate from Columbia University (2017) and the recently created Business of Consulting Engineering Certificate from CESA (2020).

He combines technical excellence with a passion for helping others and is an active mentor within the AECOM mentorship programme, contributing to the development and further education of the mentees and more recent graduates under his wing. He joined the programme at the first opportunity once he qualified as a professional himself, once again demonstrating his dedication towards training and development.

Xolani is a dedicated engineer who performs at a level that far exceeds his years. He demonstrates the key characteristics that we would like to see in all our young engineers.
