The general training programme aims to upskill staff in software, technical concepts, project management and soft skills. In turn, the future leader programme focuses on training the employee on business management and leadership aspects.

In the candidacy programme, the employee is paired with a mentor. This structured training programme, which spans a few years, is aimed at upskilling the mentee to register professionally. The programme is largely based on achieving ECSA’s outcomes and in 2017, Koleko signed the Commitment & Undertaking Agreement with ECSA. All Koleko directors are professionally registered.

Koleko assisted Skhulile Mashele to be professionally registered. Wasim Khan and Claire Birungi are currently in the Candidacy Programme. They expect to submit their ECSA professional engineer applications in 2022.

Skills development is not limited to employees. Koleko believes that there is a larger role to play to improve the industry. Through SAICE Young Members, Koleko has supported and engaged with various high school learners. Over the past few years, Koleko has also worked closely with tertiary institutions to bridge the gap between graduate skills and industry requirements.

Skills transfer takes place on public sector and some private sector clients’ projects, enabling them to have a better appreciation and understanding of transportation engineering.

Koleko has completed projects all over South Africa and five other African countries. Through sound engineering, ethics and integrity, Koleko is committed to building better communities for our future generations.
