May 27-August 1, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Register for this popular, supervised summer program for kids ages 5-11. Enjoy the rock wall, swimming (once a week), art projects and active games. Choose a 3-day or 5-day program. Space is limited and available on a first-registered, first-served basis. 3-Day: $74/week (non-resident $91). 5-Day: $110/week (non-residents $145). Swim Lessons

Summer swim lessons, group or private, are offered for all ages and ability levels with 4 summer sessions available. The fee for each session includes eight, 30-minute lessons for two weeks Monday-Thursday and is $26 (non-residents $49).The lessons are taught by certified water safety instructors. Registration for Glendale residents begins May 12 and May 15 for non-residents. For details, see page 21.

Foothills Family Swim Party

Saturday, June 28, 5:30-7:30 p.m. An evening for families to enjoy our mini-waterpark. Entrance includes a hot dog and lemonade, and the concession stand will be open for additional purchases. Parents/ Guardians must be present. No food, ice chests, swim toys or floatation devices. Event open to the first 400 paid participants. Residents $3/person, non-residents $5/ person. Foothills Daddy/Daughter Dance

Saturday, July 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m. You are cordially invited to the Foothills Daddy/Daughter Dance. This is your chance to show your little girl how SPECIAL she is. Treat her to a night of music, dancing, fun and dessert; memories she will have for a lifetime. Dads or the girl’s other significant male may attend. Open for daughters ages 3-12. Dress code is semi-formal. The cost is $20 for Dad and up to 2 daughters. Additional daughters are $5 each. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. The Foothills Center is more than just recreation and aquatics; it includes varying sized rental rooms for intimate gatherings or larger groups up to 230 individuals. With a range of room sizes, we can host business and HOA meetings, weddings, birthday parties or overnight graduation parties. Chairs and tables are included, and a catering kitchen is also available for rent. Additionally, your group can enjoy floating around the lazy river, splashing in the play pool or just lounging pool side with our pool-side party patio space. If you would like to be placed on the Free Agent List or have any questions about the Adult Sports program, please contact Mike D. at 623-930-2841 or mdavis@glendaleaz.com. To receive Glendale resident rates, proof of residency must be provided. Proof must show address and be current within 60 days. Examples include driver’s license, water bill, etc. Teams will pay the maximum non-resident fee until proof of residency is verified, then a refund will be issued for the appropriate amount. With an area for small dogs, water fountains, waste stations and some dog agility equipment, this is a great place to bring the pooch for a doggie play day. Closed on Tuesdays. Northern Horizon Park, 63rd and Northern Avenues, has a large fenced-in play area, a play area for small dogs, water fountains, shade trees benches and waste stations. This free youth and teen program includes mentoring/tutoring, career exploration, life skills development, fashion club, dance hip hop classes, weight programs and arts and crafts. Also offering basketball, volleyball for ages 12 and older and wrestling for pee wee and teens

YWCA Senior Program

Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Activities include exercise, socialization, bingo, field trips and more! The YWCA Senior Lunch Program offers hot meals for age 60+, Monday-Friday, 12-12:30 p.m. for a $2.50 suggested contribution. For lunch, call 623-930-4700 at least 24 hours in advance.

Sahuaro Ranch Historic Area The Sahuaro Ranch Historic Area is a 17-acre historic site with buildings built between 1887 and 1961 and a historic landscape of fruit trees. The Historic Area is open daily 6 a.m. to sunset and admission is FREE (except during special events with admission fees).
