Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Philippines was looking for a way to launch their new casual dining restaurant concept 26th St. Bistro. My team came up with the idea of #everydayextraordinary, to help communicate the message that 26 th St. Bistro transforms everyday meals into extraordinary dining experiences. We executed press and bloggers events, as well as a special party hosted by Tessa Prieto, a celebrity writer and socialite famed for her extraordinary fashion. These events were supported by online and social media efforts, as well as articles in newspapers and magazines. I helped conceptualize the events and social media messages. I wrote all the scripts for the events, as well as several advertorials and boilerplates.

Everyday extraordinary at 26th St. For those who know me, I don’t have to tell you that I am a huge fan of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. I love the coffeeshop’s relaxed, comfy ambiance, their great service, and of course, their handcrafted coffees and teas. I always make it a point to visit their stores here and abroad whenever I need a fix of my fave African Sunrise tea. So you can imagine my delight when The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Philippines, the local franchise owner of the global brand, invited me to throw a party at their exciting new dining concept, the 26 th St. Bistro by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. 26th St. Bistro? What’s that, you may ask. Well, the 26 th St. Bistro is the essence of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf turned into a casual yet classy restaurant. It still has everything you love about the coffeeshop, but now it also has a bigger dining area, full-service wait staff, and a menu of extraordinary dishes you can enjoy for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or anytime in between. More than the usual Held last September 11, my afternoon party was at the flagship store of 26 th St. Bistro, located on the ground floor of the Net Lima Building, Bonifacio Global City (for people in the north, there is also a 26 th St. Bistro at the 5th level of Shangri-La Plaza Mall). I had invited a lot of my fashionable friends, and like me the first thing they noticed was the upscale, stylish look of the restaurant. It still had the design DNA of Coffee Bean, but turned up a notch. Several notches in fact. Coffee Bean Philippines representatives Jay Ong, VP for Strategic Partnerships and Project Development, and Paolo Del Rosario, VP for Marketing and Business Development, told me that they had paid particular attention to the restaurant décor, hiring a designer to create an aesthetic balance between wood and metal, hues and accents, for a modern yet rustic feel. “The concept, the design, the food, all leads up to 26 th St. Bistro’s theme of ‘everyday extraordinary’,” says Paolo. “Much like how Coffee Bean transformed our expectations of the café, we want 26th St. Bistro to elevate everyday casual meals into extraordinary dining experiences.” Everyday extraordinary? I think that suits me very well. :-) Five courses I had over 30 of my friends and family over for the party, and I have to say that 26 th St. Bistro did not disappoint. The venue was beautiful, the service was top-notch, and the food! For the cuisine, we were treated to an amazing tasting menu of 5 courses made up of many of the Bistro’s bestsellers. For the first course, there was a vegetarian delight portobello mushroom ciabatta and wild mushroom soup. Next came a salad dish of mixed greens paired with sumptuous Norwegian salmon fishcakes drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette and smoked paprika aioli.


The third course was an elegantly plated pasta of tiger prawn and shiitake mushroom linguine, while the main course was a generous portion of hanging tender steak with potato gratin and marsala sauce. And for dessert, luscious helpings of chocolate lava cake and apple crumble cake, both ala mode. For drinks, my guests were free to order anything from the menu, from the handcrafted coffees, teas, and juices, to even a bottle of beer or glass of wine. Yes, that’s right, 26 th St. Bistro offers a selection of imported beers and wines! Before and after dinner, we also had a few fun games and contests, with prizes generously supplied by 26th St. Bistro. Several of my guests even won a stylish CBTL Single Serve Beverage Machine, an all-in-one espresso, coffee, and tea maker that’s worth over twelve thousand pesos!
