Grateful for Community Report of Giving: July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023

In gratitude for the wonderful support of the GUS community.

Our fiscal year 2023 was a great one thanks to the amazing philanthropic support of our entire community. We not only reached the goal for the GUS Fund thanks to all of you - our parents, trustees, alumni, alumni parents, faculty, staff, grandparents and friends - but you also contributed to special named funds, to the golf tournament, and to the big Parent Association 2023 spring event! This incredible generosity positions us to move towards our 50th with the resources that best support our mission, vision, and values. Thank you all so much! Glen Urquhart School is sustained and uplifted by the Board of Trustees, a group of dedicated volunteers, comprised of parents, alumni parents, alumni, and community members who strategically safeguard the mission of the school by overseeing finances, planning long-term for growth and sustainability, and helping to lead fundraising efforts.

“On behalf of all of us at GUS, thank you for your dedicated efforts and thoughtful gifts in support of the School. We deeply appreciate your support for the good work of GUS and the positive effect it has had on the lives of our current students and past graduates. Your belief in our shared mission is invaluable to our extending the values of Mean Well, Speak Well, Do Well into the world.” - Alen Yen P’22, President Board of Trustees “Together, we make GUS a positive and happy place for children to learn and to grow. At the center of this growth and development are our teachers who endlessly and generously share their time, talent, and wisdom with all the students in their care. I know this dedication to teaching the whole child was practiced when my son was a student at GUS, and I witness this same commitment today. It’s wonderful to join with all of you in making a difference for teachers and students! GUS is worthy of our strong, continued support and commitment.” - Joan Rosenthal P’12, Advancement Chair

THE GUS FUND The GUS Fund is an annual fundraising drive that provides immediate support to the school’s operating budget. Gifts to the GUS Fund directly impact GUS students and teachers by supporting our curriculum, providing innovative classroom resources, and professional development for faculty and staff. Our goal is always 100% participation from our parent and guardian community, members of the Board, and faculty and staff. Because of the size of our community, every gift makes a difference and counts even more! Founders Circle

The Cavanaugh Family Fund

GAIN@GUS provides enriching academic, social, and outdoor experiences to young middle-school students from several towns across the North Shore. At no cost to their families, GAIN students are provided with transportation, food, books, and related supplies thanks to generous donors, corporations, foundations, and friends.

Leslie Marchesseault Scholarship Fund for Access + Inclusion

Created in 2018 by a group of thoughtful and generous donors vested in honoring Leslie Marchesseault for her 30+ years of service to GUS. The purpose of this schol-

GUS Endowment, a perpetual source of support, is essential in sustaining the school’s mission. Each year a portion of the endowment is paid out as an annual distribution to support the school’s budget, while any appreciation is retained in the endowment so it can grow and bolster the school in all kinds of economic weather. Created by a gift from the estate of the late Derek Cavanaugh P’96’99’01’04. Derek was not only a proud Glen Urquhart School parent, but also a dedicated and successful President of the Board of Trustees, serving from 1997-2001. The fund created by Derek’s charitable

bequest was made in lasting honor of the Cavanaugh Family’s time spent celebrating and encouraging the GUS community of teachers, students, and friends. Derek’s adult children have thoughtfully stewarded their father’s gift, and they are pleased knowing their family is helping to make a difference for GUS today and into the future. The purpose of The Cavanaugh Family Fund, in broad terms, is to help ensure that the GUS community; its traditions, and its faculty, continue to be well supported.

The Raymond Nance Fund

The Raymond Nance Fund was established in honor of Raymond C. Nance and his fifteen years of service to Glen Urquhart School as head of school. The fund is dedicated to strengthening the faculty and expanding the program so that GUS remains a leader in educational innovation. Alan Feldman P’90

The Northrup-Warren Nature Fund

Named after founding students Molly Northrup ’86 and Lisl Warren ’86, this fund endows the study, interpretation, and preservation of the natural resources located on the Glen Urquhart campus.

The Augustus P. Loring Library Fund

The Loring Fund was established in 1986 to honor past grandparent Augustus P. Loring. Mr. Loring’s firm belief that the strength of an educational institution is reflected in its library led to the establishment of this fund to strengthen our school and to pay tribute to his lifetime dedication to education. The income from this fund is used to acquire books for the GUS library.

The Kelly Stotz Wycke Fund for Science

Established in 1999, this fund is dedicated to the memory of a loving parent who expressed a strong desire and commitment to enhance science education for GUS students.
