Year In Review Radio Show

Good Morning Greater Latrobe Radio Show Hosts David Martin (Chamber President) and Mike Dudurich hosted nearly 20 guests on the Chamber’s Annual “year in review” show on 1480 WCNS. The show can be heard LIVE every month on the first Friday. Due to the holidays, the next show will air on January 8, 2016.

Final Board Meeting a success

December’s Business After Hours (presented by First Commonwealth Bank) was also the Chamber’s Ugly Sweater Party! Over 100 Chamber members and Young Professional Group members converged on the SpringHill Suites by Marriott to celebrate the holidays, win prizes, enjoy food and drink, and network. The second anniversary of the re-branding of the Greater Latrobe-Laurel Valley Chamber of Commerce was celebrated this month as part of the Chamber’s final board of directors meeting of 2015 at the Springhill Suites. A holiday reception with new and outgoing board members and GLLV partners followed the meeting. 2015 marked a change in the physical location for the GLLV offices (and the opening of a visitor & resource center) from an obscure location in Latrobe to a prime spot along Route 30. There was a name change, a logo change, a change in attitude, a change in staff and a change in commitment to the chamber’s increased service area. The

21-person board is a volunteer organization, made up of leaders from business, industry and education, who have great interest and commitment to not only Greater Latrobe, but to the region as well. Six new directors and new executive leadership will be announced in January and it will mark the biggest change on the chamber’s board in recent years. “One of the biggest changes we’ve seen from the GLLV Chamber over the last year and one that has had the greatest impact is the new Neighborhood Visitor and Information Center,” said the GLLV’s new Vice Chairman Andrea Cuda. “It’s made the chamber more visible in the community, it’s created a new

level of value for members in that it offers an additional information outlet for our local businesses, and of course it serves as a welcome center to visitors and residents in the area.” Sitting on recent accomplishments, however, isn’t an option. That’s why a strategic planning session for 2016 and beyond was held in November and the “new” board will hit the ground running when the calendar rolls over. At end end of the meeting, outgoing Board Chairman Paul Puleo (First National Bank) presented Chamber President David Martin with a wooden engraved plaque, for “Dedication above and beyond, Service to our Communities, and Commitment to our Chamber.”
