GLLV VISITOR & INFORMATION CENTER OPENS!
T
he doors to the Greater LatrobeLaurel Valley Community Chamber of Commerce’s much-anticipated Neighborhood Visitor & Information Center opened this week. The Center, located in Sharky’s Plaza on Route 30, will host an Open House Tuesday, Feb. 3 to Saturday, Feb. 7 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. The Neighborhood VIC got its name due to the generous support of the McFeely-Rogers Foundation. “We're extremely excited to finally open the Neighborhood Visitor & Information Center,” said GLLV president David Martin. “The facility will tell the stories of where we came from, where we are now and where we are going. We live and work in an amazing area and the VIC will celebrate that." In addition to a resource center for information on shopping, member business services, restaurants, lodging, attractions, activities and community-focused material for visitors and new and current members, there will be a historical aspect to the VIC. There will be museum cases with items from Arnold Palmer, Fred Rogers, Rolling Rock and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In a partnership with the Derry Area Revitalization Corporation (DARCee), Bowling for DARCee will be held on Saturday, February 28 at 5 p.m. at Lincoln Lanes in Latrobe, with proceeds benefiting the Derry Area Revitalization efforts. The cost is $35/person or $175/team (teams of 5) and includes two games, shoes, food, wine, and beer. Space is limited, so please RSVP to the Chamber office ASAP. YOUNG PROFESSIONALS GROUP TO LAUNCH IN MARCH Calling all professionals age 40 and under! Beginning in March 2015, the Chamber will be announcing the first event for its new Young Professionals Group. Chaired by Courtney Baum (Saint Vincent Career Services), the GLLV YPG is being formed to serve Chamber members and local students age 40 and under, and to create opportunities for networking, education, career building, and community service.
INDIANA FIRST BANK OPENS NEW BRANCH Indiana First Bank proudly announces the opening of a Lending Office located at 20 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg. The bank hired Randy Bauer as vice president of commercial business development, to focus on commercial, industrial and retail loans within Westmoreland County and surrounding areas. “Our main focus will be helping small businesses in the area to get the financing they need to support and drive their businesses,” stated Bauer.
GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OPENING IN LATROBE Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley, Inc., a nonprofit agency headquartered in Johnstown, has announced that it will soon open the Latrobe Goodwill Retail Store and Donation Center at 43 Latrobe 30 Plaza, across Route 30 from Arnold Palmer Motors in Latrobe.
MEMBEREVENTS GLLV'S FIRST LUNCH & LEARN EVENT The Chamber will hold its first Lunch & Learn Event on Tuesday, February 24 at 11:30 a.m. at DeNunzio's Italian Chophouse (Arnold Palmer Regional Airport). The event will feature Westmoreland County Airport Authority Executive Director Gabe Monzo, with updates regarding the Airport's new flights and expansion plans. Chamber President David Martin and Board Chairman Paul Puleo will also provide brief remarks on the Chamber and The Neighborhood Visitor & Information Center.
