Although the historic SS Great Britain in Bristol will never sail again, a new installation brings the ocean back to the historic steamship this September. The ship, housed in the dry dock where it was built, is already surrounded at water level by laminated glass to simulate the sea, and this project adds to the effect by projecting the sights and sounds of the undersea world onto the ship’s bow and dockside. Created by design studio Limbic Cinema, the spectacle treats visitors to scenes of icebergs, jellyfish shoals and dolphins passing the boat as it cuts through the water. The sounds of nature are accompanied by a poem by Saili Katebe. The installation, runs until Sun 19 Sep. Ffi: SS Great Britain W: www. ssgreatbritain.org
