What are these little squares? Some time ago, QR codes (Quick Response codes) became popular in Mexico. We find them in magazines, newspapers and advertisements. Do you know what they are and how to use them? QR codes were first used by Toyota in Japan. They contain information the human eye can’t read. They are often used to access websites or information posted on the web in an easy and direct way. To use them, you need to have a QR code reader on your mobile device, snap the code and you’re done. Remember that our Life to Go print magazine has a QR code for you to download our digital issue and enjoy our additional contents.

Do you think the first astronaut was American? Well, not really. The first human to travel to space was Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin, from Russia. However, Laika travelled into space before Yuri Gagarin. Laika was a dog and the first living creature to orbit the Earth. She travelled aboard Sputnik 2 on November 3, 1957. Unfortunately, Laika couldn’t make it back to Earth. She died from overheating due to a failure in the spacecraft thermal system.

The legend of Tarzan

Ice age: Collision course

Scrat’s epic pursuit of his elusive acorn catapults him outside of Earth, where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the planet. To save themselves from peril, Manny, Sid, Diego and the rest of the herd leave their home and embark on a quest full of thrills and spills, highs and lows, laughter and adventure while traveling to exotic new lands and encountering a host of colorful new characters as well as a new enemy who is a brother to one of their old foes.

Oldie Recommendation

Tarzan, having acclimated to life in London, is called back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment. It has been years since Tarzan left the jungle of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom. But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Blade Runner Blade Runner depicts a dystopian Los Angeles in which genetically engineered replicants, which are visually indistinguishable from adult humans, are manufactured by the powerful Tyrell Corporation. The use of replicants on Earth is banned and they are exclusively utilized for dangerous or menial work on off-world colonies. Replicants who defy the ban and return to Earth are hunted down and killed (“retired”) by special police operatives known as “Blade Runners”. The plot focuses on a group of recently escaped replicants hiding in L.A. and the burnt-out expert Blade Runner, Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who reluctantly agrees to take on one more assignment to hunt them down.

This Netflix’s musical drama series is about disco music, R&B, punk and hip-hop. The Get Down seeks to reflect the corruption that took over New York during the 1970s. The starting point is a group of lower-class teenagers from the Bronx that are trying to succeed in these new musical genres.

Claro Video’s new and second original series La Hermandad (“The Brotherhood”) was just released last May. This story is a psychological thriller, says Manolo Cardona, producer and leading actor who plays a psychiatrist named Julio. La Hermandad gets together after the death of Julio’s brothers and agrees to take power and revenge.

Summer brings sun and rain. You`re enjoying a beautiful hot day out and all of a sudden, the rain pours down. To look good, you need to be versatile.

Enigma

Women like mystery. Give them something to discover: add a sophisticated pair of sunglasses to your look. Just do not to wear them in dark places or at nights. For the hot days What about hot weekends? You gotta have a pair of shorts. Shorts are a must to go the beach, go for a bike ride with your sweetie and show some leg.

12

Be bold

Formal shoes with rubber soles make you look elegant and keep you in comfort. Their versatility will add a cool touch to your summer look.

Plaid shirts always have a place in the closets of men with style. Use your straight jeans for a real manly look.

Lumbersexual?

Try the preppy look

Some years ago, only nerds used vests. Toda y, it’s in to wear a diamond pattern, or pastel color vest .

Special investigation

THE IMPORTANCE OF ‘LIFE COACHING’

Y

ou must probably know what sport coaches do, right? They help their players improve their skills, perform to the best of their ability, develop strong character, gain confidence and increase their motivation. They are crucial to improve individual results as well as those of a team. In life as in sports, it is useful to have someone to help us as instructor, teacher, motivator, substitute parent, social worker, friend, manager, and therapist. Even former Google CEO, Eric Schmidt supports coaching. He says: “Everybody needs a coach […]. Every famous athlete and every famous performer has somebody who’s a coach […], someone who can help them see themselves as others see them.” But, why is having a coach not only desirable but necessary? A life coach can provide unique value by helping to mirror our true selves unjudged by the values, thoughts, and views of another person. When we see ourselves as we really are, it becomes easier to define where we would like to go and what we would like to do to achieve a fulfilling, meaningful life. It is very useful to have someone experienced, talented and cold-headed who can help us through life. Here are some examples:

18

When we are stuck or lost: We feel our life is not going anywhere and our minds are overwhelmed with a bunch of emotional stuff. The guidance of a supportive coach will help us gain clarity to define where we are and where we would like to go.

When we need to leave our comfort zone: A coach helps us to stretch the boundaries of our comfort zone. He or she will help us define clear and specific goals, and then will gently push us to achieve them.

When we require energizing ourselves up: Our coach helps us monitor our level of physical and emotional energy and allocate the time and attention we need to keep it in a healthy level. He will also help us cope with energy drainers, such as toxic relationships and worrisome thoughts.

When we are unhappy: We need a change and a life coach can help us materialize it. He or she will make sure we are living according to our own values and not someone else’s.

When we just got out of a relationship: We feel brokenhearted and we need to start over again. Working with a life coach will help us clarify what went wrong and what we want.

One thing is true about this: although we may think there is a gap between where we are and where we could potentially be, we are not broken or helpless. We are naturally creative and resourceful and we can conquer anything we want with patience, hard work and the guidance of a life coach.

When we are scared to death: We are afraid of failure but also afraid of success. We are afraid of the dark, afraid of looking stupid, afraid of what people will think and say, afraid of being alone, of being seen and not being seen. We are afraid all the time. A coach will help us to stand up to those fears and act with more courage.

They are not magic bullets, or magic pills. The way out resides inside of us, but many times we are so fearful, we cannot see it. In this case, coaching can help.

The best places to study abroad 28

It is believed that studying abroad ensures personal development and a better job when returning to the country of origin. The idea is not very far from reality, as companies value applicants who have lived outside their country of birth for academic purposes. 29

France Holding onto the top spot of the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Best Student Cities index for the third year running, the French capital combines iconic architecture and one of the world’s mostcoveted and admired cultural heritages with a highly impressive selection of internationally ranked universities. Its reputation among graduate recruiters rivals even its status among romantics, while low tuition fees go at least some way towards offsetting relatively high living costs. From the dazzling city lights and sights of Paris to the coastal sun and fun of the French Riviera, students love the romanticism of France. That’s not even getting into the fashion statements or culinary adventures. La vie en rose. Programs are available in such diverse locations as cosmopolitan Paris or medieval Avignon, with options in either French or English. You can choose for yourself how challenging the next semester is going to be. We already mentioned the fancy foods and lyricism of the language, right?

USA The US remains the world’s leading destination for international students. According to the Institute of International Education’s Open Doors report, the most popular states for international study in the US are California, New York and Texas. U.S. universities and colleges differ from those in Mexico in several ways. For one thing, small class sizes are very common. They may be as few as 10 to 20 students in a class, giving you the personal attention you need in order to succeed. You will notice different perspectives on instruction. Of course, it’s not just the high standard of US universities that draws students in. Whether you’re attracted to the bright lights and fast pace of the big city or to miles and miles of unspoiled wilderness; sun-kissed beaches or lush forests; the rustic and traditional or the sleek and modern, this huge and incredibly diverse country has something for everyone.

Canada

Each year hundreds of thousands of international students attend Canadian colleges and universities. Their degrees are recognized around the world as being equivalent to those obtained from the United States or Commonwealth countries. Canada boasts a wide range of quality educational institutions for both degrees and diplomas in technical and professional disciplines. International students who have graduated from a Canadian university or college have the opportunity to work in Canada for up to one year after they receive their degree or diploma. One of the most important reasons to study in Canada is the advantage to learn or improve another language. For over a century, Canada’s two official languages (English and French) have been taught as second languages, which is why they are world leaders in language training. International students often choose to take language courses before beginning a regular academic program.

Germany This European country is one of the most popular non-Anglophone study destination, and the third overall. Germany is a country characterized by variety. German universities offer degree programs in every possible subject and academic level. General universities focus strongly on scientifically oriented studies in a wide range of disciplines. Universities of applied science, on the other hand, are very practice-oriented. If you’re more interested in artistic subjects, you can enroll at a college of art, film or music. Also, more and more courses and degree programs are being offered in English, especially at the master’s degree level. This is good news if you don’t know any German of if your German isn’t good enough yet. This is also good to practice your English. Students normally don’t have to pay tuition fees at German universities, and if so, the fees are very low. Most German universities receive considerable financing from the government.

Sheyla claims that one of her favorite subjects was English since she studied middle school. When the moment of choosing a major came, she realized all undergraduate courses lead you to learn this language.

“I never imagined achieving such success because I thought I would stay here for a year. It never crossed my mind that I would make a professional career here at Harmon Hall since I’d never had another job apart from this one.” 37

E

Why should we study in Harmon Hall? Because here, we teach in a more humane and fun way with a proven method. Besides, the face-to-face experience and the classic teaching environment are complemented with an online platform. Our chat rooms, for example, have no comparison in the English teaching market.
