1st DEGREE BLACK BELT BLUE TIP CURRICULUM The material in this guide is designed to supplement classroom training. Students should warm up properly before practicing. Techniques that require a partner should be executed with no contact unless supervised by an instructor. SECTION I - POOMSE: KORYO (1st Degree Black Belt), TAE-GEUK CHIL-JANG (Beginner Red), KI-BON CHIL-JANG (Intermediate Red), and KI-BON PAL-JANG (Advanced Red) SECTION II - ONE STEP SPARRING 32-33 #32 - Double Elbow Hip Flip

Place fingers under attackers thumbside of hand and thumb on back of hand

Pivoting on right foot Complete turn by step under arms with pivoting on right foot left leg and prepare for take down

Take down Ki-hap

Punch to face Ki-hap


SECTION III - SELF DEFENSE - BACK SHOULDER GRABS 2 Back double shoulder grab 2

Back double shoulder grab

Step behind with left foot as you begin to turn under to the left

Finish turn under attackers arms

Right arm will begin to hook attackers arms

Hook attackers arms with right arm

Left hand body punch and Ki-hap

Back straight shoulder grab 2

Back straight shoulder grab

Pivot on right foot and turn to the right as you place right thumb on top of attackers hand

Place left hand on attackers hand to prepare for arm lock

Get body in proper position by turning to the right and press down with elbow

Continue to press down and Ki-hap

Keeping right hand still, raise left arm up behind attackers elbow

Right hand remaining still, apply pressure down against elbow as you turn body to the right

Lower stance to apply more pressure and Ki-hap

Step back with left foot and turn body as you hold attackers hand with right hand

SECTION IV - FREE SPARRING: ALL GEAR During testing students will have to demonstrate Olympic style free sparring with all gear. SECTION V - BOARD BREAKING: ANY KICK DURING ANY OF THE REQUIRED POOMSES (BE PREPARED TO SET UP) SECTION VI - PHILOSOPHY (WRITTEN) EXAM WILL BE ON LOYALTY

Once a student knows all of the material in this guide, they should pick up a test form to prepare for the philosophical (written) portion of the belt exam. Students may only test with the instructors permission.
