CURRICULUM The material in this guide is designed to supplement classroom training. Students should warm up properly before practicing. Techniques that require a partner should be executed with no contact unless supervised by an instructor. Six requirements to reach 2nd Degree Black Belt

SECTION I - POOMSE: JOON-GUP IL-JANG (Must also know Koryo, Tae-geuk Il-jang, Tae-geuk Sam-jang, Tae-geuk Oh-jang and Tae-geuk Chil-jang) On certain motions when changing directions your feet must first come together. This will happen by sliding your left foot to your right foot (* denotes this motion) or by sliding your right foot to your left foot (** denotes this motion).

Left foot steps behind and block attackers hand down
Right leg steps behind attackers leg and right hand is under attackers arm
Push forward with right palm
Push take down Ki-hap
Shift weight to right side as you rotate attackers arm over and apply pressure to elbow
Continue to add pressure to elbow and lower attacker
Jump over attacker onto left foot and apply pressure to shoulder

Left foot steps out and X block down with right hand on top
Place right thumb on back of attackers hand

Step in towards attackers, hold back and knee to groin
Holding onto wrist, step back with right foot
Pivot on right foot and step away with left foot
Use forearm to apply pressure to elbow Ki-hap
Pivot on both feet and go under left arm, begin to grab wrist with right hand
Turn to the right and place left forearm on attackers elbow
Lower stance and apply pressure to elbow Ki-hap
BACK DOUBLE WRIST GRAB 2
Back double wrist grab
Step behind with right foot and raise left arm up
SECTION IV - BOARD BREAKING: Students must demonstrate the following 1. BACK SPINNING KICK - standing or jumping 2. UPPER BODY TECHNIQUE - knifehand, elbow or fist 3. COMBINATION BREAK - two kick combo or double break 4. CREATIVE KICK - your choice of any technique SECTION V - FREE SPARRING: Students must demonstrate two rounds of Olympic style free sparring with all gear SECTION VI - WRITTEN EXAM: Students must pick up the written exam form at Dojang Part I - Essay: will consist of 50-250 words about your taekwondo experiences Part II - Questions: each of the five questions will be answered in a paragraph
Once a student knows all of the material in this guide, they should pick up a test form to prepare for the philosophical (written) portion of the belt exam. Students may only test with the instructors permission.
