1st DEGREE BLACK BELT YELLOW TIP CURRICULUM The material in this guide is designed to supplement classroom training. Students should warm up properly before practicing. Techniques that require a partner should be executed with no contact unless supervised by an instructor. SECTION I - POOMSE: KORYO (1st Degree Black), TAE-GEUK SAM-JANG (Beginner Green), KI-BON SAM-JANG (Intermediate Green), and KI-BON SA-JANG (Advanced Green) SECTION II - ONE STEP SPARRING 28-29 #28 - NECK CHOP ELBOW BREAK

Step out with left foot and high X block with right hand on top

Grab attackers wrist with right hand and chop to the neck with left hand

Step in with right foot to form a triangle with attackers feet and grab far shoulder

#29 - ROUND HOUSE COMBO BACK KICK

Step to the right on your right foot and execute a single knifehand body block

Grab attackers wrist and execute a right leg jumping roundhouse kick

Left leg jumping round house kick

Pivoting on right foot, hit the outside of attackers knee with yours and pull attacker towards you

Apply pressure to elbow by pushing hand toward floor Ki-hap

Right leg jumping round house kick

Left leg jumping round house kick

Right leg jumping back kick Ki-hap

SECTION III - SELF DEFENSE - SHOULDER GRABS 2

Trap attackers right arm and grab the far wrist

Rotate attackers arm to get a good angle to apply pressure

Step in with right leg and press down with arm

Lower stance to apply more pressure Ki-hap

Keep pulling down to bend attackers arm to prepare for arm lock

Arm lock upward

Punch to body Ki-hap

Step forward with left foot as you turn left hand to apply pressure to wrist

Step behind and push arms forward

Take down Ki-hap

Move left arm to right side as you pull down on attackers arm

Cross shoulder grab 2

Cross shoulder grab

Right arm chops down on elbow as you grab with left hand by placing thumb on top

SECTION IV - FREE SPARRING: ALL GEAR During testing students will have to demonstrate Olympic style free sparring with all gear. SECTION V - BOARD BREAKING: STEPPING SIDE KICK DURING KORYO POOMSE

SECTION VI - PHILOSOPHY (WRITTEN) EXAM WILL BE ON ATTITUDE

Once a student knows all of the material in this guide, they should pick up a test form to prepare for the philosophical (written) portion of the belt exam. Students may only test with the instructors permission.
