Who are GOGUIDE...??? GOGUIDE is a local online magazine for the West Lothian area. We are trying to be less focused on local ‘news’ and more a, ‘what’s on’ or ‘happening’ guide to the local area. lthough not 100% local with some members hailing from as far away as Grangemouth, Falkirk and Bo’ness, we feel that indie rock band The Difference are in spirit enough of a local band to merit a little feature in the mag. The band first came to be in the summer of 2010 and after rehearsing for a while they got to gigging the local circuit. The band made it to the start of 2011 when there were a few fluctuations in the ranks and some movements in and out were made before eventually arriving at its current line-up of Chrissy (Vocals), James (Rhythm Guitar / vocals), Tam (Bass), Brian (Lead Guitar) and Steven (Drums)
but it is a cool swaggery vibe that I find the overriding theme. Not you’re typical jangly guitar indie band or anthemic chorus rock type sound and more of a mellow bus ride through trippier times. Ok if I had to give you a sound alike for reference then maybe a slightly pop’ier Black Rebel Motorcycle Club?? Gees I don’t know… there is defo some rock in
there, but loads of indie… then there is that god damn pop to mix it right up… ok I’m stopping there just have a listen and make your own mind up. Over their short time together TD have managed to grab themselves some cool support slots with the likes of Chris Helme (x-Seahorses), The River 68’s, Selective Service and The Ray Summers. On the cards the guys are hoping to secure some more sweet support slots to keep up the momentum for the rest of the year and into 2012 Locally the guys are hoping to be playing a lot more regularly now that the lineup has settled down and they have a set of songs to die for. Release wise the guys hope to start work on their first EP soon but do get on to their web sites and get hold of anything you can from them and if indiepoprock is your thing I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
It didn’t take too long before the new members of the band began to gel and the new sound of The Difference was born and new songs have started to trickle through which will hopefully be added to the guys set sooner rather than later so we can all hear them. Their indie rock blend is hard to truly pigeon hole

n the words of The New York Dolls… Who are the ‘The Mystery Girls?’ Well literally they are a garage punk rock band formed in 2009 by music scene stalwart Colin Meek on guitar and vocals with the help of John Innes on bass and Bill Carlyle on Drums. Together they are ‘The Mystery Girls?’. Maybe the mystery is that there is not a girl in sight? (Ha… a little joke there that you probably missed) Having been kicking around from the early punk days back in the 70’s the trio of band members initially got together for a charity event back in the summer of 2009 and never looked back. They produce songs and a sound that really does drag you kicking and screaming back to those chaotic days of the early UK punk/new wave scene of 76/77 and Page 4
glimpses of bands like Eater, Wire, ATV and of course the bigger bands like the Pistols, Stoogies, Buzzcocks, Dolls etc. are all sprinkled around the bands tracks. I am only listened to their original material when writing this feature about the band and tracks like ‘Profiteering’, from their second EP out in October 2011, are wonderful slices of that original punk magic that so impacted the UK music scene back then. To hear something like this today in 2011 is simply amazing. It has a rawness and energy that is missing in so much music nowadays with its simple structure, guitar lines and driving drum and bass line that just drags you in and keeps you there. Listen through a few times and there is a message in there as well if you care to listen to Meeks lyrics but there are definitely no massive solo’s, technical guitar riffs, silky bass runs or double bass beatdowns going on here… just music… and proper REAL music at that. DEC 2011 - issue (12)
The band have masses of material up on their ReverbNation site and
have been releasing singles/eps through Big Finish Records on there for a couple of months now. The first back in August being ‘Hands Down / Talk Is Cheap’ and the second the previously mentioned ‘Profiteering / Cut To The Chase’. Although these are only available for a limited period so if you can’t download them by the time of reading I’m sure if you talk to the guys nicely you could pick these up for a fee well worth the outlay. If you are like me you will get them on CD as well because I like a physical CD with nice
artwork etc to fawn over as I stick in the CD and turn the dial right up to 10 ;-) The debut album ‘Radioactive!’ is coming soon so keep an eye on the guys ReverbNation site for maybe a little promo (the guys seem to like a good promo deal) for that sometime in the future. For LIVE shows I’m glad to see the band are not afraid of doing a few covers of their hero’s stuff along the way as it show just how accomplished they are reproducing that 76/77 gut feeling in their music
which obviously, from what I have heard of their own stuff, drips through intravenously into their own original material which is where ‘The Mystery Girls?’ shine in my opinion. For gig dates and any other info on ‘The Mystery Girls?’ check out their sites @ www.myspace.com/themysterygirls3 www.reverbnation.com/themysterygirls
Coup Coupd’état d’état W hen you stick on the Coup d’état tracks it doesn’t take you long to find your mind wandering and you find yourself wistfully imagining fields of swaying grasses and exoric flowers, of sandy beaches, surfboards, of simpler times, of loving times, of colourful times… then the track stops and your back to earth with a bang!!!
Coup d’etat were formed in 2008 and describe themselves as a “60’s influenced Garage Punk, R’n’B & Psychedelic band” – I would maybe drop one or two words from that list and it would be a perfect description of their blend of 60’s Psychedelic rock/pop music. What Daniel, Andrew, Stu and Ricky bring us is something really captivating and refreshing in that with their music they seem to not be making any apologies for taking their many differing influences and mixing them all up and coming up with a sound that is new but still very very true to the roots of those
said influences. Psychedelic pop/ rock tunes stand face to face with trippy ballads and trade blows to see who gets more repeat plays on my playlist, songs ebb and flow back and forth and develop in ways you don’t really expect. I’m not sure who’s winning but I can tell you it’s a well matched battle. With tracks like ‘Annmarie’ (pure 60’s pop), ‘At First Glance’ (trippy rock), ‘Haunting My Dreams’ (toe tappin baggie), ‘I Was A Fool’, (dreamy ballad city) you simply can’t fail to be moved by these guys commitment to a sound long lost in the click click boom boom sound of modern chart drivel… Keep it up dudes. Some of their listed influences point you in the direction of Love (Arthur Lee), 13th Floor Elevators, Captain Beefheart, Pretty Things, Chocolate Watchband and Electric Prunes so if this is the sort of music that finds its way onto your mp3 player then look no further than Coup d’etat for a new fix. We have finally sat down and got together to thrash out our idea of the top 10 movies for 2011. thats the omes that WE enjoyed. Remember we are no experts and its just our opinion as a bunch of typical dumb ass movie fans.
10. TWILIGHT : BREAKING DAWN PART 1 Director Bill Condon toned down the silly CG werewolf brawls (mostly) and focused on what Twihards really wanted: more Bella, more Jacob and a lot more Edward! But that whole “imprinting” thing Jacob does to their daughter does venture into creepy uncle territory.
9. SUPER 8 J.J. Abrams delivered a sci-fi yarn that mashed E.T., Close Encounters, and Goonies into a heartwarming tale about preteens on the verge of something more magical and more terrifying than any Cloverfield monster: Adolescence.
8. MIDNIGHT IN PARIS Who knew Owen Wilson would make such a great stand in for Woody Allen? But we all knew Paris through Allen’s eyes would be stunning, and his dialogue for Ernest Hemingway, Salvador Dali, and F. Scott Fitzgerald is hilarious.
7. THE DESCENDANTS George Clooney adds to his charm, with what could be the performance of his career playing a dad who drives all over Hawaii with his two daughters to confront the man who slept with his wife. The wife is in a coma, but Clooney’s character is awake for the first time in years.
6. HUGO We know Martin Scorsese loves cinema—especially the silent film era, but now we do, too. Part family film about a boy’s need to fix a robot, part 3-D extravaganza, this is easily Marty’s best since The Departed. And so different, obviously. Oh, and 3-D is absolutely the best way to experience this one. Page 28

5. RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES When tormented ape Caesar says, “Noooo!” we exclaim, “Yes!” Andy Serkis deserves an Oscar nom for his performance via motion capture.
4. WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN Lynne Ramsey and Tilda Swinton conquer the American art-house in a disquieting take on Lionel Shriver’s icy dissection of a mother’s relationship with her psycho son. The year’s feel-bad film for parents.
3. TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY In the early 1970s during the Cold War, the head of British Intelligence, Control, resigns after an operation in Budapest, Hungary goes badly wrong. It transpires that Control believed one of four senior figures in the service was in fact a Russian agent - a mole and the Hungary operation was an attempt to identify which of them it was. Smiley had been forced into retirement by the departure of Control, but is asked by a senior government figure to investigate a story told to him by a rogue agent, Ricky Tarr, that there was a mole.
2. DRIVE Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Though a loner by nature, Driver can’t help falling in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac). After a heist intended to pay off Standard’s protection money spins unpredictably out of control, Driver finds himself driving defense for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals. But when he realizes that the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash in his trunk-that they’re coming straight for Irene and her son-Driver is forced to shift gears and go on offense. 1. BRIDESMAIDS OK.... we finally managed it, we sat down and banged it out... the movie of the year has got to be Bridesmaids. Its just so damn Funny Funny FUNNY. We have never seen so many brilliant characters in a movie for a long long time and it has some of the funniest moments in the past 10 years. Annie (Kristen Wiig), is a maid of honor whose life unravels as she leads her best friend, Lillian (Maya Rudolph), and a group of colorful bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to matrimony. Annie’s life is a mess. But when she finds out her lifetime best friend is engaged, she simply must serve as Lillian’s maid of honor. Though lovelorn and broke, Annie bluffs her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals. With one chance to get it perfect, she’ll show Lillian and her bridesmaids just how far you’ll go for someone you love.

MOVIES THE REVIEW
THING
Director: Matthijs van Heijningen Cast: Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ulrich Thomsen, Eric Christian Olsen, Trond Espen Seim
S
pecial effects wise, while there are a few cringe moments in the new remake, or should I say prequel, of The Thing, the video effects and CGI are, by and large, pretty impressive. Partly it might be the fact that some things lend themselves to CGI better than others such as tendrils, claws and burning meat or maybe it is just the creator’s imagination that is the key to good effects.
Dutch first-time director Matthijs van Heijningen’s seems to have some incredible takes on good effects and his vision of a present day alternative to those seen in the original 1982 version.
THE
One of the makotr factors of the original however seems to have been overlooked, whether intentional or not, and that is the build-up and suspense of what’s going to happen next? At no point are you really on edge. Page 32
Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays American paleontologist Kate Lloyd who joins a team of Norwegian scientists in the Antarctic to investigate a 100,000-year-old craft buried 200m deep. They find a dead creature encased in the ice which eventually turns out to be a little less dead than they thought. Midway move the creature escapes its icy prison and heads into the wind-torn night in search of a hiding place. The original Carpenter offering certainly gave us a confined and claustrophobic setting for our would be heroes to survive in stark contrast, van Heijningen offers up a friendlier, brighter, more expansive living space, plus plenty of daytime scenes outside of the base confides. There are moments of tension but the chosen framing seems to give a much more open dynamic so any suspense is quickly dispersed with. Character wise the new 2011 movie seems to be less engaging and even with the addition of a change of main character from male to female doesn’t seem to liven this crew up. The bad showing of the DEC 2011 - issue (12)
1982 movie at the box-office was thought to be pointed squarely at the all-male cast but the addition of Winstead brings little to the overall audience connection so perhaps dispelling this thought. A mutual spark of attraction does appear between Kate and chopper pilot Sam Carter (Joel Edgerton) but that’s basically it. Winstead, plays the Ripley-esque warrior role, and I suppose Edgerton has just enough facial growth to loosely suggest a harping back to the Kurt Russell character. I don’t really recall too many details about any of the other cast members or their characters… I suppose the epitome of the proverbial cannon fodder. When placed against the glut of horror revisits lately that we have sat through over the past few years, it does stand as one of the better ones only beaten by some of the newer Zombie remakes but way better than say Friday The 13th, A Nightmare On Elm Street and The Hitcher to name but a few.

A
REVIEW
Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas is the third adventure in the popular stoner comedy franchise and is set a few years after the 2nd 2008 movie. It’s the Christmas season and our duo has basically not spoken in 2 years. The action kicks off with now successful and happily married Harold (John Cho) having a hard time coping with his wife Maria’s (Paula Garces) extended family having arranged for them to spend the holiday weekend at their home. The extended part of her family includes her super scary father Carlos (Danny Trejo) and Timo (Marvin Cruz) who hasn’t quite made parole. On the other side of the coin recently dumped Kumar (Kal Penn) has just discovered that his ex-girlfriend Vanessa (Danneel Ackles) is pregnant. After a package arrives at Kumars house addressed to Harold he decides to deliver it himself which bring the two x-friends back together for the first time and the
real action kicks off from there. After opening the package they discover huge joint, but this is no ordinary joint as we quickly find out this is a magic joint which causes Harold’s father-in-law’s lovingly home grown, 8 year old, 12 ft Christmas tree, to accidentally catch fire. Now the pair have to find an emergency replacement so they head for New York, accompanied by Harold’s friend Todd (Tom Lennon), Todd’s baby Ava and Kumar’s nerdy neighbour Adrian (Amir Blumenfeld), who’s heading for an internet hook-up with the daughter (Jordan Hinson) of a gangster (Elias Koteas). Soon the luckless foursome is bumbling through scene after scene of crazy mishaps including bumping into a few old friends (strangely enough Neil Patrick Harris as Neil Patrick Harris) and, being xmas, Santa along the way. Even in this the 3rd movie, from my point of view, the main theme running through the Harold & Kumar movies is the affable friendship and the engaging performances from Penn and Cho. They are both on tremendous comic form here and there’s a strong supporting cast from Lennon, Blumenfeld, Neil Patrick Harris and Trejo. The script by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg is crammed full of great lines, as well as a series of
clever in-jokes (such as a line about Kumar working in the White House – Penn’s day job is something to do with the Obama administration which he joined in 2009) I think I speak for most people when I say that not every jokes work to the same extent but the film is nicely paced and even in the slower more serious parts it can still find a good bit of humour to carry it along. Unlike most of the new generation of movies utilising 3D this movie succeeds in using it in quite brilliant ways and in extremely creative and sometimes filthy ways. It all adds to the fun which I what I think is at the core of 3D movies anyway where a lot of movies suffer by the inclusion of 3D elements. A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas is probably just a little less enjoyable as the first film and way better the number 2. I’m pretty sure we can look forward to a return for further adventures based on the success of this movie. It is Enjoyable, occasionally inventive and frequently funny and thrives thanks to a sharp script, endearing characters and excellent performances by its two main characters aided greatly by a super supporting cast. A rare comedy movie that doesn’t really wean from start to finish.

from Microsoft and Sony let’s call them the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 for now.
o that is another year over with and we see the massively popular Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim pull in the top spot across all platforms. It does have its faults but they truly pale into insignificance when faced with the games total world immersion. Although an amazing game it was a hard fought contest and a very close 2nd was Deus EX which again pulls the player deeper in the longer you play. Everyone will no doubt have their own idea about what they think is their best games, these are just ours.

ctivision announced this month that Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare™ 3 crossed the $1 billion mark in sales since its launch on November 8, 2011, according to Charttrack and retail customer sellthrough information. Highlighting the trend of interactive entertainment gaining a greater hold of audiences worldwide, the game achieved this milestone in just 16 days, eclipsing the record set in 2009 by the feature film “Avatar,” which reached the $1 billion milestone in 17 days. While 2011 box office revenue is on the decline the number of people purchasing and participating in gaming is on the rise, with no sign of slowing. With more than 30 million gamers, the Call of Duty community now exceeds the combined populations of the cities of New York, London, Tokyo, Paris and Madrid. “Engagement of our Call of Duty audience continues to rise around the world” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “Call of Duty® as an entertainment franchise has made an indelible mark on popular culture and its broad and continued success is further validation that audiences increasingly value interactive experiences over passive experiences. Call of Duty is now amongst that rariPage 54
fied group of sustained franchises like “Star Wars”, “Harry Potter”, “Lord of the Rings” and the National Football League (NFL) that attract or engage tens of millions of people every year or every new release. Call of Duty Elite is one of the fastest growing online services ever with more than six million players registered since its launch November 8, 2011. “Call of Duty has become that rare entertainment franchise that transcends its own genre. Core gamers love it, as our stellar reviews show. But every year, new people are drawn into Call of Duty,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO. http://www.callofduty.com http://www.activision.com DEC 2011 - issue (12)

he makers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have moved to ban more than 1,600 players for using known exploits to cheat in the military first person shooter.
“Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued,” tweeted Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling. One of the exploits includes players being able to get ‘under’ the map while still being able to shoot enemy players. Infinity Ward promised that a ‘hotfix’ update was incoming and urged players to continue reporting cheaters. Bowling said that the length of ban was released to the ‘douch’iness’ of the offense’, an Americanism for the level of bad behaviour. A fan site that focuses on the first-

person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has posted information showing that at least one gamer who cheated in the game has received a 5,000 day ban, which translates into about 15 years, from the developers at Infinity Ward. Again bowling is quoted confirmed the number and saying, “If you see this message, it means you’ve been ‘Permabanned’ (for something bad).” It will be interesting to see whether the affected players will pop in their Modern Warfare 3 disk in after the ban expires just to see whether Infinity Ward has any sort of reaction. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 owes much of its popularity to its multiplayer modes and the developer and publisher take all the measures in order to keep the environment as competitive and cheat free as possible.

GAMING REVIEW
T
his title takes me back to my childhood days more than anything else I have played over the years. With many summer holiday mornings spend glued to the goggle box awaiting the magical words “And now the next episode of Hergé’s Adventures of Tintin” to crackle out from the tinny speaker on the side of the TV. And this in turn makes me think of others from those days like Banana Splits, Joe 90 and strangely enough a French dubbed sward fencing adventure called The Flashing Blade.
As a tie in to the new animated movie The Adventures of Tintin game attempts to brings back the non-stop action and old school fun of the movie and original TV series to your games consoles in a particularly child-friendly manner. The game sets you up to play out the story of the movie with you playing mostly as Tintin, an intrepid

young reporter, with the odd section tripping to his faithful companion Snowy.
circling their heads to later show up again in other parts of the game.
The story kicks off when Tintin purchases a model ship named ‘The Unicorn’ at a local flea market, this causes him to be accosted by a shady figure who claims to be a collector and wants to buy the ship from him. He refuses the offer which leads to the stranger stealing it from him. Tintin has however, discovers a mysterious scroll inside the model prior to it being stolen and this sets our hero off on an adventure to find his stolen ship that rapidly turns into a hunt for a story…..and for hidden treasure.
The controls are simple to pick and the game will prompt you anytime certain button combinations are needed. The game can be quite challenging in some areas but the good thing for younger gamers is that there isn’t really any penalty for dying as you restart again very close to where you got to. There are a host of weapons at your disposal from flaming torches to slippery bananas, so working out how to get past a particular part of the game shouldn’t cause too much of a test.
Tintin is squarely aimed at the younger gamers out there and in today’s gaming market it can be a real struggle to find a good game that your kids want to play and that we as parents don’t object to. Sure is has to be exciting and full of adventure, but we don’t particularly want our pre-teen kids slitting throats or screaming HEADSHOT! at the top of their lungs. Tintin gives us fighting, swordplay, and even shooting down planes, which should probably keep a typical bloodthirsty 8 year old content, without it containing subject matter that is worrying to the parents or older adults in the household. There is plenty of combat within Tintin – both with fists and swords – but all done in a very cartoon way. Bad guys don’t explode in a gorefest but simply fall down with comedic stars DEC 2011 - issue (12)
Game Mode wise you have either the single player story mode or there is also a two player cooperative section which I’m guessing a group of kids would totally love and keep them busy for hours and hours. Rewards can be found by using your money earned in the game to buy different characters and play through the game as those and the addition of ‘quick fix’ challenge mode, where you can work your way through different quick one off challenges, is a nice feature, The Adventures of Tintin is a well-rounded pre-teen game and I wouldn’t let the movie tie in put you off buying it but if your kids did enjoy the movie I’m pretty sure they will like the game just as much.

REVIEW
ncharted 2: Among Thieves was definitely one for the ages that had fans begging for another title. It was like controlling a blockbuster action movie where you played out countless intense battle sequences, gun fights and amazing real-time events and sometimes you had to pinch yourself just to be reminded that you were actually taking part in it. With such a great 2nd game the demand was pretty high for the 3rd instalment of Nathan Drake and companies adventures. Several questions have been asked, been answered in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, some will take you by surprise and some will even leave you asking for more. Drake is on a hot trail to find what is known as the ‘Atlantis in the Sands’, but of course it wouldn’t really be an Uncharted game if Drake didn’t also have someone intending to use the hidden treasure’s secrets for evil to appear at some point along the journey, this time we have a new and intriguing foe in Helen Mirren... oops sorry no, it’s actually Katherine Marlowe. She has some background history with both Drake and Sully and has more than a passing interest in the ring Drake has worn around his neck belonging to Drakes ancestor, Francis Drake. We were all expecting great things from U3:DD and it is safe to say that developers Naughty Dog have done it again and created yet another masterpiece of a game. The pacing of the game is levelled out nicely with a perfect line between battles and solving puzzles. There are a lot more puzzles in the game compared to the other titles and do prove more of a challenge when it comes to solving them. Combat, is still very much part of the game and the third-person gun fighting has not Page 58
DEC 2011 - issue (12)
“Never a dull moment, eh Sully!” “Why Stop Now haha!” lost any of its core fun in this edition. You can choose to hide behind trees, walls, rubble etc. and blindly toss grenades or maybe shoot your way out with most enemies tough enough to take a few body shots to take them out (or a single headshot if you’re a real gunslinger). As usual you can only equip with a single small weapon, a big one, and a couple of grenades at a time. Each weapon feels really good when you aim and shoot but do to the restrictions in your armoury you have to constantly forage for ammo or other weapons from the enemies you have dispatched. One issue I would like to point out is that towards the end of a level the amount of enemies you would have to face could DEC 2011 - issue (12)
be easily compared to a relatively small army! Though it doesn’t halt the experience of the game and I suppose it does take more skill to survive. I found I was consulting a lot more with Drake’s journal or others documents that he finds along the way for clues to a lot of the puzzles in the game, of which there are many, but I’m not sure if that’s a reflection on me or the puzzles inn the game to be honest. Puzzles can be literally built into your surroundings such as getting around barricades, opening secret paths, or merely how to climb a particular building. They are by no means easy, but they are also not as mind bogglingly challenging either PAGE 59
GAMING REVIEW
that you want to give up and admit defeat, as happens in so many other games. With U3:DD the bar has been well and truly raised to all those other action/ adventure games out there and perhaps even all the way to movie industry I would say. The graphics are outstanding, and bordering on perfection in some areas. I was completely awestruck on the desert levels, the detail and flow of the sand is startlingly realistic and the water elements look amazing. Plus an Uncharted game wouldn’t be Uncharted without the man himself, Nolan North the voice of Nathan Drake. The voice acting in U3:DD is topnotch and the cut scenes are some of the best that you will ever see. U3:DD multiplayer mode is similar to Uncharted 2’s though there are some improvements and new additions. With U3:DD you constantly find yourself enjoying it more than you did with the previous game and it does seem to makes it an easier entry point for people new to playing Uncharted on multiplayer or people that in general don’t usually play games online. One issue is I would bring would be that the matchmaking is not very clear, at times matchmaking would place a level 1 player in a match with a bunch of level 40 something players. While this is not an extreme issue, it can annoy players by sending them cannon fodder for the veterans. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is definitely in the top 3 games that you should play this year. For me the imaginative storytelling, the comedy, the drama and not to mention the intense battles you will face, all come together and make a game that is like no other. Previous Uncharted titles had already set the bar quite high to begin with and now it has maybe been set just a little bit out of reach of a pretty large chunk of other developers out there, someone needs to pull their socks up and it sore isn’t the guys over at Naughty Dog.

CLASSIC MOVIE POSTERS 101
Taxi Driver is a 1976 movie directed by Martin Scorsese. It stars Robert De Niro as a lonely taxi driver named Travis Bickle. The movie also stars Jodie Foster as a young girl named Iris who is a child prostitute. In the movie, Travis is a marine who fought in the Vietnam War. When he comes back to America, he is lonely and depressed, and starts getting violent. He starts working as a taxi driver and tries, unsuccessfully, to date a woman called Betsy. He later tries and fails to assassinate the political candidate Betsy is trying to help elect. One night a girl called Iris gets into his taxi and asks for his help. She is a child prostitute and wants to run away from her pimp. Travis then buys a lot of guns, and goes to kill Iris’s pimp. He kills a lot of people, including her pimp, and then gets shot. In the end, he is hailed as a hero, and returns to driving his cab, but it is not clear whether he is only dreaming about it or he really survived. DEC 2011 - issue (12)
