A commitment to safety is the bedrock of our program operations. The full-time Putney team, led by Directors Jeff Shumlin and Governor Peter Shumlin, is large enough to operate innovative programs all over the world, yet small enough to ensure that all families receive the highest level of support.

Experienced Leadership

We hire and train only the best international educators— college graduates with high levels of maturity, judgment, and expertise, significant experience working with young people, and certifications in CPR and First Aid.

Open Lines of Communication

We maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, and leaders. While programs are underway, we can be reached by phone 24/7.

An Inclusive Environment

We celebrate diversity on our programs and expect the same of our students. We do not tolerate bullying and act decisively to safeguard the physical and emotional safety of our students.

Program Setup & Emergency Support

We only offer programs in stable locations with the infrastructure to handle urgent situations that might realistically arise. Our vetting process includes making site visits, monitoring locations, reviewing safety records, and more. Our students are covered for emergencies by the world’s leading medical evacuation plan.
