Destination • Get to know New Englanders and local life as you explore lakes, mountain trails, and farmer’s markets. Begin in pastoral Vermont, hiking, swimming, and meeting independent farmers, then traverse New Hampshire’s White Mountains with naturalists from the Appalachian Mountain Club before heading south to camp for three days on Cape Cod.
Themes • Immerse yourself in the landscape and culture of New England. Develop camping skills, hike with guides, visit a familyrun sheep farm situated on 250 acres to learn about the life of a modern-day farmer, and explore the diverse coastal ecosystems of Cape Cod.
Activities • Learn about forest and wildlife ecology in the Presidential Range from professional AMC educators. Swim in clear pools below the Falls of Lana on the slopes of Mt. Moosalamoo. Bike from beach to beach on Cape Cod’s rail trails, shadow local artisans, and explore the shoreline by kayak with professional guides.
