Sun, Service, & Tropical Adventures

• Work with locals on small-scale construction projects • Learn to cook traditional empanadas with a local chef • Play a game of baseball with Dominican friends • Camp under the stars on a pristine white-sand beach

Destination • A Spanish-speaking country on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola, the Dominican Republic is best known for its vibrant culture, gorgeous beaches, and complex colonial past. Begin in the capital city of Santo Domingo before heading to our host village. Cap the program with a visit to the verdant central mountains.

Projects • Travel to the southwest to live in a remote village at the base of lush mountains. Work together with local contacts on small-scale construction projects that benefit the community. Projects may include painting or restoration work at the primary school, teaching English to children, or learning about the sugarcane harvest.

Activities • Snorkel in crystal-clear waters and enjoy an evening bonfire with friends. Hike to a hidden waterfall, discover larimar, hike, and whitewater raft in the lush Cordillera Central mountains. After the work day, join in a game of baseball with friends, learn to dance bachata, or hone your domino skills.
