Destination • Travel to Tanzania, a beautiful and culturally diverse country. Experience village life near Arusha in lush, mountainous, northeastern Tanzania. Explore the bustling markets of Moshi and the town of Machame on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Conclude with a safari in Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.

Projects • Immerse yourself in village life by helping with community-initiated projects such as building a classroom or housing for teachers, painting and repairing school buildings, or teaching English to local children. Pursue a personal project by shadowing a local farmer, learning to cook a local dish, or organizing a village soccer tournament.

Activities • Explore Tanzania’s colorful markets. Play pickup games of frisbee or soccer with local youth. Foster new friendships with members of our host community while learning the basics of Swahili. Spot lions, zebras, giraffes, and elephants on a multi-day safari led by close friends of Putney.
