An invitation to the Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the most coveted in the sporting calendar. For spectators the Festival of Speed is a garden party, a motor racing picnic in the park and a weekend to soak up the heady atmosphere of speed and power. From Hill Pavilion you will see the cars leaving the startline and rushing through an avenue of lime trees towards the first corner. Guests in the Gurney Pavilion and Moss Pavilions can marvel at the sight of pure racing machinery roaring past Goodwood House and on up the hill. The Festival is, quite simply, the greatest gathering of motor racing machinery in the world, a high point of the sporting summer and a social occasion not to be missed. This is the garden party of the gods.

GOODWOOD AERODROME & MOTOR CIRCUIT
Goodwood Ae r odr ome wa s built during the Second World War as an RAF satellite airfield to nearby Westhampnett. From here Hurricanes and Spitfires flew in the Battle of Britain. Douglas Bader took off from the grass runway on his last wartime sortie. In 1948 the 9th Duke of Richmond, a passionate and skilled racing driver, converted the perimeter road into a motor r ac ing c ir c uit. I t wa s a n ins ta nt s uccess and became integral to Britain’s post war racing heritage. Legends such as Sir Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorne, Jim Clark, Sir Jackie Stewart and Graham Hill did battle on the Goodwood tarmac. F o r safety reasons the circuit closed in 1966. Restored in perfect period style by the Duke’s grandson Lord March, the circuit re-opened in 1998. Today Goodwood hosts the annual Revival Meeting which has become the largest and most important historic motor racing event in the world. Guests experiencing the challenges of this historic circuit will be driving in the tyre tracks of the gods of motor racing.
