CINDERELLA IN HOLLYWOOD - BALLET STARS OF THE FUTURE Cinderella in Hollywood is a glamorous and innovative production by the awardwinning English Youth Ballet. The English Youth Ballet (EYB) was founded in 1998 to provide professional performance experience for talented young dancers. It has previously won The Stage Award for special achievement in regional theatre. EYB has built a national reputation for the quality of both its full length classical ballets and mixed bill programmes. The opportunity to watch EYB is a unique experience. Sell-out audiences are treated to beautiful international principal artists sharing the

stage with the top up-and-coming young talent from the local area. EYB’s large cast ensures their ballets are performed with the scale and grandeur which was originally intended. The company is made up of 8 professional principals and 100 selected dancers aged 8 – 18 from the local area. The young dancers are some of the top talents from the local area. There are now ex-EYB young performers in some of the world’s best companies – including the Royal Ballet. Set in the glamorous era of 1950s Hollywood movies, this lavish production draws its inspiration from film star Grace Kelly who met Prince Rainier of Monaco at a press party and later married him. Cinderella is a seamstress on a film set and the Fairy Godmother is her late mother - a former movie star of the 1930s. Her wicked sisters are Hollywood starlets competing with each other for starring film roles.
The Prince meets Cinderella at the press party but at midnight she flees from the scene leaving a sparkly silver pointe-shoe as the only clue to her identity. The choreography has been created by Director Miss Janet Lewis and her team of international principal artists who coach the young dancers. The music combines Shostakovich Jazz Suites and Ballet Suites with memorable melodies from Hollywood films such as Tea for Two, Chinatown and Dancing in the Dark. The stunning new stage designs for the ballet are by Sebastian Petit and the costume designs are by Keith Bish. The professional principal dancers have joined EYB from some of the world’s most renowned ballet companies – including the Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre, and Ballet de Toulouse. British principal dancers include Phillip Tunstall, Julianne Rice-Oxley, Ann Wall, Steven Wheeler & Oliver Speers. Brenden Bratulic is from Australia and Clare Corruble is from France. MAINTAINING WELLNESS WHEN SELF ISOLATING
Self isolation and working from home doesn’t have to be doom and gloom. It is essential to keep a positive mindset and to make the most out of every situation, look on the brighter side of life to stay in good spirits.
Clever Communication If you and your family are having to stay at home don’t fret, spending time with your family is a fantastic opportunity to catch up and bond. Normally everyone leads busy lifestyles so now is the ideal time to slow down and talk. Keeping to isolation guidelines doesn’t mean that you have to lose communication, use your phone to stay in touch with your elderly relatives and friends without visiting them in person. Video calling is also a fantastic way to stay in touch as you can virtually chat face to face without the need to leave your home.
Create a Positive Work Environment If you are working from home try moving your computer and phone to a different area of your home every couple of days to avoid feeling like you are stuck in one place. You can work from your dining room, your living room, your home office, your conservatory - find a space where you feel comfortable and motivated. Try to adhere to your daily schedule as much as possible, stick to your regular working hours and breaks that you had when working in an office environment to maintain normality - sticking to a familiar routine when working in a different environment will help you to feel grounded and calm. Fun Filled Days If you are struggling to keep children entertained then you need to think outside the box and go back to basics, moving away from technology towards more simplistic activities. Spend time in the garden, get creative with some arts and crafts, play board games, have fun doing hide and seek, write a short story together, make up a dance routine, bake some cakes - the list goes on, there’s so much you can do at home when you put your mind to it. However don’t forget to maintain regular hand washing and hygiene precautions when you’re having fun.

Help with Homeschooling Plenty of schools and educational websites are offering free resources to help with homeschooling, Twinkl are offering support such as lesson plans, activities and games to help maintain your child’s education when in isolation. Educational games such as My Maths are ideal for making learning fun and for keeping your child entertained. Maintain Positive Mental Health Mental health can be worsened by self isolation, but it’s all about making use of the resources that are available to you. The internet provides you with a support hub right at your fingertips, you can download a variety of wonderful apps to aid with mindfulness and positivity. There are apps for relaxation, sleep aid, stress, anxiety, depression and much more. You can even play

2020 - THE 80’S REVIVAL Even though 2020 is a brand new decade, it seems that the runways are looking back in time for inspiration. The 2010’s had a heavy focus on 90’s trends, whereas 2020 is looking to the 80’s for divine fashion inspiration. Bold, bright and striking makeup is a must have for any fashionista, models faces are being adorned with as much colour as possible, tastefully clashing tones of electric blue and fuchsia are exceedingly popular. However this trend has been given a slight update for this new resurgence, colourful shadow is used only on the inner corner of the eye to add vibrancy without being too intense.

Bobby Latheron’s new book “My World In My Words” shines a light on what it is like to live with autism and aims to open people’s eyes about the effects of their actions. 24 year old Bobby from Middlesbrough wasn’t diagnosed until he was 13. He received relentless bullying at school and found it hard to make friends, Bobby recalls upsetting times when he would “act the clown” when his classmates told

him to in an attempt to make friends. “There was name-calling at school, students would get me to do stupid things. I didn’t know what to do to make friends. So I would do those stupid things.” The bullying greatly effected Bobby’s mental health and caused him to change schools. Unfortunately Bobby found that the bullying and discrimination continued into his adult life. On a recent trip to America with local charity Autism Matters, the group Bobby was travelling with encountered abuse from other passengers. Bobby used writing and creating music as an outlet for his feelings. Regularly working with Carl Pemberton from Journey South to record his music. Bobby’s songs cover a wide range of themes, ranging from life with autism through to relationships - his discography is full of themes that are relatable for lots of people. Bobby is motivated to tell people what it is like living with autism and to encourage more people to speak out to gain a better understanding of the condition.
