College of education A leader in the state of Arkansas, the College of Education (COE) offers programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels across three departments: Elementary, Literacy, and Special Education; Leadership Studies; and Teaching and Learning. Graduates leave the College of Education ready to inspire and instruct the next generation of leaders. Data from the 2020 Arkansas New Teachers Survey show that UCA graduates rate their preparation above the state average in 20 of the 21 areas of readiness. The COE was also granted accreditation at the initial-licensure level and advanced-level by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, receiving no recommendations for areas of improvement or stipulations. Additionally, UCA is the only institution in the state of Arkansas with International Dyslexia Association accreditation.

Jessica Franklin ’16 was named the North Little Rock Steve Ward of the Department of Teaching and Learning received the UCA Career Champion Award for 2021.
