The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster visits the Peterborough Hub In October the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Steven Barclay, toured the construction site of the new Government Hub at Fletton Quays in Peterborough. The hub is part of the Places for Growth programme, which supports the Government’s drive to move 22,000 civil service roles from central London to locations across the UK through the Government Hubs Programme. More than 1,000 civil servants from various government departments including HM Passport Office and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) are expected to move to the hub from 2023. Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Steve Barclay said: “Developments such as these in Peterborough are a great example of this government’s commitment to investing in infrastructure and levelling up across our country. “We are leaving no stone unturned in delivering this important agenda, and I look forward to seeing the benefits this new hub will bring to local communities and businesses as part of our plans to spread opportunity and prosperity.” enquiries@gpa.gov.uk Steven Boyd, CEO at GPA, said: “The Government Property Agency is creating great places to work for civil servants in locations across the UK. We will continue to work closely with departments to ensure their people can build their careers outside of London in strong regional centres that enable efficient, collaborative and flexible working, driving engagement and improving staff productivity and wellbeing.” Read more about the Peterborough hub and the wider regeneration project.
