March 21 - April 19 Make a resolution to focus on your spirituality for a while. If you find it difficult to meditate, for example, look into an app to help you with it, or try a walking or moving meditation - you hate sitting still, but maybe you don't have to!

TAURUS

Popular Capricorn

Michelle Obama Born: January 17th 1964

April 20 - May 20 Make a resolution to broaden your social horizons. You tend to stick to the same kind of people, but moving out of your social comfort zone would do you the world of good - and who knows who you might meet out there?

GEMINI

May 21 - June 20 Make a resolution to set realistic goals and standards for yourself. You judge yourself much more harshly than you would ever judge someone else. Aim high by all means, but not so high that you are doomed to failure.

CANCER FUN FACTS - Within the family, her nickname is 'Miche'. - Her husband calls her 'my rock.' - She hates pantyhose - too 'painful.' - Barack proposed at a fancy Chicago restaurant; the ring came on a tray with the dessert.

CAPRICORN

December 22 - January 19 Make a resolution to conquer time management. You have so much to do, but so much time is wasted. Look into various systems and find one which works for you. Every minute saved is more time for you and for what matters.

June 21 - July 22 Make a resolution to learn something new, every week. Whether you sign up to a formal course or simply get googling topics of interest, there's a wealth of knowledge out there just waiting for you to find it.

LEO

July 23 - August 22 Make a resolution to forgive, if not to forget. Hurts from the past are holding you back. Enter 2018 with a clean slate, and remember: when you forgive someone, it sets YOU free. Do it of your own sake, not theirs.

VIRGO

August 23 - September 22 Make a resolution to put your relationship first. With too much focus on work or family, your couple time suffers. Give the kids to the grandparents occasionally, or leave work early - get your love life back on track and happiness follows.

LIBRA

September 23- October 22 Make a resolution to focus on holistic wellness. No more weird, snap diets, no

2

more killing yourself in the gym for two weeks and then never going back - make small, realistic, sustainable changes which will pay off over the longer term.

SCORPIO

October 23 - November 21 Make a resolution to be more playful. Life doesn't always have to be so serious. Indulge your inner child as you head into 2018. Get creative too - there's an artistic side to you which has long been repressed. Let it loose!

Pisces - "let your light shine more strongly, and don't hold back from spreading love and wisdom"

SAGITTARIUS

November 22 - December 21 Make a resolution to look into your past and your family history. Understand your roots will give you a firmer understanding of your present - not to mention it will be a fascinating journey, and a good excuse to get in touch with family members!

AQUARIUS

January 20 - February 18 Make a resolution to learn the difference between monetary value and real value. Focus less on materialism this week and in the year ahead, and more on intangible blessings. Start a gratitude journal and realize how lucky you truly are.

PISCES

February 19 - March 20 Make a resolution to give more of yourself to the world. You have so much to teach others, and you are a shining example of compassion and grace - let your light shine more strongly, and don't hold back from spreading love and wisdom

GOWEEKLY 01 2018 COVER STORY

LIMPI: Pollution is a problem which humanity has been facing for decades. We seem to be careless about our environment and we easily take mother earth for granted. We shouldn’t. Our oceans are filled with plastic containers and other debris which is harmful to all living organisms on this planet. Various locations on our island are filled with different types of plastic bottles and containers that wash ashore. Debrah Nijdam and Mitchell Lammering are well aware of this and consciously decided to do something about it. Their ultimate goal is to bring awareness about plastic pollution on our island. They want to show others, how unwanted plastic can be become a thing of beauty while simultaneously keeping our island clean or better yet, Limpi. By: Miguel Gonzalez Perret-Gentil

NOTHING GOES TO WASTE !

COVER STORY GOWEEKLY 01 2018

Limpi focuses on recycling used plastic and turning it into art. The initial idea was to start a project which would last for three months. This was in November of 2016. It’s 2018 and they have managed to establish themselves as a self-sustainable company which uses plastic to make key chains, bowls, and coasters. All the machines they use are inspired by existing machines which they redesigned and built from scratch. Even the molds used to make the coasters are made by them. It’s not for nothing that they graduated from industrial product design.

"‘Let’s create awareness and be creative at the same time"

Common goals

Debrah and Mitchell met during their second year of school while studying industrial product design at the Hogeschool of Rotterdam. They immediately noticed they shared a lot in common. They both loved innovation (and each other) and design. Right after graduation they faced questions we all seem to struggle with upon finishing school. What was the next step? Would they start working for some company or start something on their own? Debrah struggled with this. She didn’t know if moving back home to Curaçao would be the right choice. So she discussed her concerns with Mitchell who also had a similar

thought in mind. It wasn’t until 2015 when they visited Curaçao for a few days that they decided what their next step would be. “Mitchell and I (Debrah) noticed how much plastic there was on the island, we were conscious about it. ‘Let’s create awareness and be creative at the same time’, was our first thought. It was never our goal to make a living out of it. Let’s create awareness

and if it doesn’t work out, at least it will be adding another experience to our long list of things that we want to do”, but it worked.

Getting started Most plastic they use is donated by either individuals or even organizations such as The Curaçao Sea Turtle Foundation. They also work closely with Green Force who provides them with tons of plastic items such as plastic soap bottles. Mitchell further explained how much work it can be to collect the plastic debris. “It takes so much time to do this that it’s highly appreciated when people actually donate it. They don’t realize that it’s just the two of us doing all the work. Making a coaster takes time. Making the bowls takes time and precision. Due to our sudden growth over the last few months, it’s almost impossible for us to do the collecting

ourselves. We highly appreciate everyone’s donations. Without them we couldn’t do what we love to do.”

become an automatic boost for our economy. We have enough trash here and instead of letting it pollute our environment we want to use this trash to create new life.” Limpi’s motto is, "don't wait for a change, be the change" and they sure live by it every single day. The question is, will you?

Trust the process The process is easier than you might think. It just takes a lot of work. After the plastic has been collected, sorted and cleaned, they also cut it and separate it by placing the bits of plastic into separate jars. The cutting or shredding is done thanks to their self-made shredder. The bowls are made by using the extruder. This machine has an opening where the shredded plastic bits are poured into. The extruder than melts this plastic and it comes out on the other end in the shape of plastic strings. These strings are than placed on a mold

to create their bowls. The injection molding machine is used for making the coasters. A mold is attached at the bottom of the machine. Plastic is

deposited in the opening on the top of the machine. There is a lever sticking from the machine. This lever is used to inject the melted plastic into the mold at the bottom of the machine. Once the mold is removed and opened you can easily remove the coasters. Limpi’s ultimate goal is to bring awareness to our community. “We want to focus on products to be used on a daily basis. The purpose is to replace existing products by using recycled plastic. For instance, instead of importing chairs, we could make our own chairs and sell them and
