GOWEEKLY 21 2017 HOROSCOPE

PISCES

February, 19 - March, 20 You might want to share ideas that you've been mulling over recently. You're very much in your element at this time, and this week could be an opportunity to take steps to fulfill one of your heart's desires. It may not happen overnight, but bit by bit you'll get there.

ARIES

Popular Gemini

Gianno Silvanie Born: May 31, 1983

GEMINI

May, 21 - June, 20 Your attention is zeroed in on making progress, getting and holding on to those things you love most, and on not being rushed into making decisions. This is your chance to recharge your batteries and immerse yourself in activities that feel really good and can help bring the magic back into your life.

LOVE Are friends telling you that your standards are too high or that you're willing to settle too quickly? Choose your next partner for the qualities you like about them and try to block out what anyone else says. You have a fun sense of play over the weekend, which can make you a desirable date. You don't take things too seriously, and that is a huge plus on a first date.

2

March 21, – April 19 An ideal lover may seek you out of a crowd. It might not last forever, but it could be great while it lasts. Lap up the attention, but don't encourage more than you want. Casual acquaintances may reveal themselves as powerful and dependable allies.

TAURUS

April, 20 – May, 20 Your extra ration of charm will attract opportunities and improve networking. People value you and want to work with you. Business relationships will be clear-cut and mutually satisfying. Make some new connections in the first few weeks and let them grow stronger as you all succeed.

AQUARIUS -

"This is

where you will ind the true answers"

CANCER

June, 21 - July, 22 The coming weeks might see you booking a trip or vacation to a place that can provide sensual delights, heady experiences, and plenty to explore. You may also have a chance to make some positive changes on the home front because of a brilliant idea.

LEO

July, 23 - August, 22 Although it's always good to do plenty of exercise, you may find the opposite to be true this month, when relaxing could do you a world of good. Influences suggest that you may be busy, but be determined to push yourself to keep up with your exercises and other health routines.

VIRGO

August, 23 - September, 22 This can be a good time to take a class that enables you to learn a new skill. It's also a great opportunity to reach out and make some vital connections that can bring new offers, deals, and contracts your way. At the same time, you might be able to increase your income if you act on an idea.

LIBRA

September, 23 - October, 22 You may breathe a sigh of relief this week as tensions begin to ease and you start to feel more relaxed. This can be a time for planning ahead and doing the groundwork when it comes to new projects.

SCORPIO

October, 23 - November, 22 You may be tempted to go on a bit of a spending streak during the next three weeks. Decorations for the house or travel to a former home will be especially appealing. Ask yourself whether or not your income from work can really support this. And you need to ensure that your emotions will be protected as much as your body.

SAGITTARIUS

November, 23 - December, 21 Most important now isn't how much you have but rather the quality of your life as you consider how to make some important changes. Love and affection join with action and assertion to help you engage in creative pursuits like writing, film, radio, and television projects.

CAPRICORN

December, 22 - January, 19 With a focus on your lifestyle sector, you may be curious about how you can make better use of your time in order to accomplish more. The coming week could encourage you to take a closer look at your routines and daily activities and streamline them in order to give yourself more leeway.

AQUARIUS

January, 20 - February, 18 During the next weeks, you will find that rational thinking is not going to provide you with all the information you need to get ahead. It is important that you rely on your intuition. This is where you will find the true answers.

Drake has beaten Adele's record for the most wins at the Billboard Music Awards.

#BBMAs divas Cher & Celine Dion

The Canadian rapper picked up 13 prizes, beating Adele by one, at the event in Las Vegas including best artist. He was joined on the stage by Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and his father. "I just want to say hold tight Adele because when a new ting drops you will crawl your way back to get the record back," said Drake accepting the award. Adele set the former record at the 2012 awards when she won prizes including top artist, top female artist and top pop artist.

The superstars brought down the house at the #BBMAs last Sunday night with their iconic performances. Celine Dion sang the monumental song 'My heart will go on' in honor of the 20th anniversary of Titanic. Cher took the stage and pulled of a performance only she can. For over six decades now, Cher is one of the most dominant figures in the music and entertainment industry, for which she received the Billboard Icon award! #IconCher

SAVE Prime Restaurant is classy. Upon entry, we were welcomed by the friendly staff, and the very attentive manager, Manchell. We asked Manchell to surprise us with a selection based on his own recommendation. Editor: Sendeliz Gibbes | Photography: Evelia Hart

Prime Restaurant We started off with the traditional arepitas with cheese and tuna, an avocado-shrimp cocktail, and lobster cream soup. They were all absolutely delicious. Then Manchell recommended their specialties: The seafood platter, and the T-Bone steak. The seafood platter is a mix of different seafood like octopus, calamari, conch and mussels… This dish is such an experience, it takes you to heaven! The T-Bone steak was cooked to perfection. Exquisite! The fancy ambiance, the stellar service, and value for the money, makes Prime Restaurant one of the best restaurants on the island. We highly recommend you to visit them! GOWEEKLY 21 2017 COVER STORY

If you’re not familiar with 'Humans of Willemstad', you’re missing out. HoW is wildly popular, and has more than 40K followers on social media. HoW creator, and storyteller, Roushaira Alexander, is one of the faces behind this successful platform. Her team consist of Jason Rafael, the man behind the camera that documents every conversation with his own unique signature style, and the multitalented creative designer, Quinn King. Together with other volunteers, they are working hard (next to their fulltime jobs) to maintain the successfulness of the HoW platform. Editor: Sendeliz Gibbes | Photography: Uriel Symor

Tell us about yourself. Who is Roushaira Alexander? "Actually this is the first question I always ask the person I’m having a conversation with during my 'Humans of Willemstad hours'. It’s the easiest way to connect with each other. I see myself as a bridge that unites people online and in real life. I hope to leave a positive mark on every one I meet in my journey through this life."

What inspired you to start HoW? "During my student years I was living in the Netherlands, studying in Rotterdam, but working in Amster-

dam. While commuting every day between these two vibrant cities, I noticed that no one was actually engaging with each other. In the train, subway or bus, everyone was clamped to their tablet and/or phone. I was contemplating what others were going through constantly. So in 2011 I started a blog on Tumblr called BeYoutifulppl. The main idea was to talk to individuals, photograph them and share their stories. Every face has a story! And that story can inspire others. But in the hecticness of life, study and work I neglected the blog. It wasn’t until 2014 that a friend

asked me if I knew about Humans of New York, which had the same mission as my initial blog. And so, that’s how Humans of Willemstad was born. May the 5th I shared the first story on the platform."

What do you remember about the first interview you did for HoW? "We actually started on King’s day back in 2014. It was the perfect day to engage with total strangers on the streets of Punda. Of course I’ve done my homework and prepared questions to ask but I couldn’t tame the butterflies in my stomach,

COVER STORY GOWEEKLY 21 2017

couple who is facing the hardships of Alzheimer with such positivity and strength. A transgender man finally being able to feel content with his body. A long lost son, who ultimately got back in contact with his father after reading his story on our platform. These… amongst many others are all dear to my heart."

Outside of HoW, you work as a HR- & Marketing manager at El Tributo, & Extura. In the funeral sector, you face the vulnerability of life on a daily basis. What are your top 3 favorite things in life? "The things that really matter in life are not things. Here are my favorite sensations: - Humor! Laugh… laugh very very hard, ‘till your stomach hurts and your eyes are watery. - True and intimate connection. Whether it be with a person, through music, a movie, with nature or something else. - Great food and mind-blowing sex..." so I approached an acquaintance and told him about HoW and what we wanted to accomplish. So he started to talk about how his mom is his biggest inspiration. 'HoWing' for 3 years, I really notice that the mother figure is an imperative factor during most (if not all) of the conversations I have."

You’ve done so many HoW stories already, is there one in particular that will stay with you forever? "Every conversation I have is like a gift. On each occasion I am amazed

that people engage with me in such an intimate form. Sharing their dreams, frustration, pains and hopes. Our team has been capturing Willemstad at its finest, delicate and most eventful moments. And by daily sharing a variety of funny, inspiring, deep and surprising stories, we intend to persuade every person to stop and reflect on their own life and their role in our society. I’ve shed a few tears during some conversations. When a young man shared his pains about the absence of love of his mother. Being surrounded by true love of a

What would be your ultimate goal for HoW? "My mission is to make HoW a household name. A Krioyo media brand. More than a sole Facebookpage, HoW is a movement with a wink for the positive developments within our community. Our aim is to bring people closer together and simultaneously increase the mutual understanding, compassion, unity and love within our community. And I want to make HoW an even bigger (international) platform. So stay tuned for some awesome projects to come!"

ART RULES GOWEEKLY 21 2017

Art Rules Curaçao We have all heard the expression “art makes the world better.” The creative minds of Art Rules take that expression one step further, for they believe that Art Saves Lives. Throughout the years, Art Rules’ teachers have witnessed students using their creativity to express emotions and experiences they find otherwise difficult to voice. Furthermore, they have learned to use art as a problem solving tool to apply in their day-to-day lives, a trait they are paying forward in their community. Art is used to highlight important issues in our society and around the world as it gives a voice to the voiceless. The beauty of art The beauty about art is that it brings people together and share a common experience, even if they come from very different backgrounds. It teaches us to open our minds and respect those who are different from us. It is the one area where it is encouraged to respectfully disagree with one another. Politicians, activists and even the private sector are inspired by artists and its everlasting effect in the population it serves. So yes, art does make the world better, but it also saves lives.

When it comes to sandals, we take all varieties and colors into consideration. How many fashion girls do you know who just pack one pair of flip-flops for vacation? Microwave

Hacks

Microwave is that kitchen box that we hate to love, yet love to use! Ahead you will find 5 hacks for your kitchen's publicly least favorite appliance to make your life easier!

Get more juice

Cook that egg

Soften ice cream

Juice up your lemons or oranges with a quick 15-25 second zap in the microwave.

Scramble, poach or omelet - no frying pans required.

This timeless microwave tip will never go out of style! Just zap that pint (lid off) for 15-20 seconds.

Peel garlic super quick

Potato chips

Peel garlic in a flash! For a single clove, zap on full for 15 sec, the heat draws out moisture out of the clove, which gets trapped between skin, which in turn, loosens it.

Potato chips that have lost their crunch, can be placed on paper towels, in the microwave oven and heated briefly. The towels will absorb moisture and restore the chips to crispness.
