September 23 - October 22 Try not to approach everything negatively. By doing so you may cut yourself off from incredible opportunities. This is a time to be expansive. Spread your wings and feel free to lift off the ground. Take greater pride in your work. You'll reach the goals that you strive for. Enjoy the path you're on. The journey is the reward.
March 21 - April 19 You may be indirectly affected by a struggle. A heated debate having to do with mistaken communication and extreme emotions might devastate your psyche unless you keep up your defenses. Whether you want to or not, you're probably going to get sucked into it.

Beyoncé has a song out with one of rap's biggest stars. Nope, wrong answer, not that one. It’s Eminem. His new single ‘Walk on Water’ which was released on Friday November 10th has Queen Bey singing, "I walk on water/But I ain't no Jesus/I walk on water/But only when it freezes" -- as Eminem talks about the pressures of his life and career. Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from the rapper, whose last studio album was "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" in 2013. Eminem is scheduled to perform on "Saturday Night Live" on November 18.

A great mix between tennis and entertainment We love sports here on the island. Our love for baseball is well known, but tennis has silently been a fan favourite for years as well. This year for the first time on the island, ‘Curaçao Tennis Legends’ will be taking over at the Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort from November 23rd to the 25th. Former tennis champions Fernando Gonzalez, Henri Leconte, Sjeng Schalken, Jacco Eltingh, Paul Haarhuis and Jan Siemerink will entertain the public with their skills. Penha’s current CEO Kevin Jonckheer was instantly convinced that this award winning business to business event from the Netherlands would be a total success: “Former legends of the sport will entertain us all with their incredible talent. Hopefully this will be the boost the sport needs in order to further inspire our younger generations to pick up a racket and become their own version of Jean-Julien Rojer”.

Thursday November 23rd With his background as a Davis Cup player and captain of the Curaçao tennis team, it might not be a surprise that Kevin Jonckheer was the first one to make a partnership commitment to the ‘Curaçao Tennis Legends’. As the CEO of Penha, one of the oldest and most renowned beauty product retailers in the Caribbean, Jonckeer is ‘unfortunately’ not as involved as he used to be in the sport: “Because of my position at Penha, I invest my limited spare time to promote Curaçao, especially in the tourism sector

as it directly affects our economy. It would be great if we can turn the ‘Curaçao Tennis Legends’ into one of the greatest events on the island. Events like this one, have a great potential in attracting a new target group to visit our island.”
Great mix between business, tennis and entertainment The idea originated 15 years ago in the Netherlands. ‘The Tennis Classics’ (the name of the event in the Netherlands) soon became one of the biggest business to business events in the country. According to CEO Eric Kersten, of the sport event agency ‘The Organizing Connection’, they see the ‘Curaçao Tennis Legends’ as an investment for the future. “We are convinced that the island will embrace this initiative. ‘The Tennis Classics’ in the Netherlands started out the same way and became a very well-known event. Our concept is new here, a business to business event like this hasn’t been organized before. We give our guests an optimized experience of leisure combined with business. The first two days of the event are only accessible for our VIP clients and their guests. We couldn’t have wished for a better location then The Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort. Beautifully located on the eastern part of the island, it offers breath taking ocean views and one of the best tennis courts on the island. The last day of the event is especially organized for the true lovers of the sport. Audiences will get the opportunity to see these

‘Legends’ battle it out on the court.
Future of grassroots sports in Curaçao Besides organizing this three-day event, organizer Eric Kersten wants to leave a legacy behind. The organization is also planning a master class earlier that week, organized at the ‘Curaçao Tennis Legends’ venue. Also, approximately 250 school kids will get their first tennis experience at the Brión square, where they can follow free clinics. The master class and clinics are organized in close collaboration with the tennis federations of the Netherlands and Curaçao, to promote tennis and an active healthy lifestyle. Jonckheer sees a bright future for the tennis sport in Curaçao: “Here it’s warm and sunny all year long. In the Netherlands you can play outside only a few months per year.
However, in comparison to the Netherlands, our tennis federation does not have the resources to employ a professional staff. Unfortunately we cannot offer our talents the best training programs. This hinders our talents development in becoming professional tennis players. Jean-Julien Rojer, on the other hand, is a true success story for Curaçao. But many people don’t know that his parents invested a lot in his career, which allowed him to move abroad at a young age to develop his game. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him, because the chances are so small to reach the top, yet he did it through hard work and dedication.” Jonckheer realizes that without proper funding it is difficult to build a professional sport organization, but one day he hopes to be able to contribute towards making this possible for our future generations. @CuracaoTL curacaotennislegends.com
