28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose.
29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Are You Praying?
What did you pray for today? What and who is on your prayer list? What are you believing God for? No doubt you prayed for your family and loved ones today. Perhaps you may have prayed about your home, your finances and/or your health. I believe you would agree that prayer is single handedly the most powerful tool we possess. Prayer lays the foundation for sweet dreams at night, and prayer jump starts us at the dawn of a new day. Some of us even whisper a little prayer as we go about our daily activities. We know that prayer is one of the best ways to communicate with God and to spend time with God. In fact the bible tells us to, “Pray without ceasing.” I Thessalonians 5:17
We all know that prayer changes things. There is plenty of proof in the Word of God to validate prayer and the benefits of prayer. One of God’s promises is that He hears us when we pray. Isn’t it good to know that no matter what we are faced with, we can go boldly to the throne and make our petitions known to God and He will answer? The Word of God tells us that, “What things soever ye desire, when you pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24
Prayer is not only a tool but it is the most powerful weapon that we all possess. It can break strongholds, heal the sick, bind the brokenhearted and send the enemy fleeing away from you. There are times when it may seem that our prayers have not been heard or answered fast enough. But we discover while we wait, “The fervent effectual prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
James 5:16
So much has happened around the world, this country, and the communities in which we live. Our world, our countries, and our cities are all in a state of emergency. There is homelessness and hunger in the world. Lives have been destroyed by devastating fires, catastrophic tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and mudslides. There is the undeniable cry of mothers in the land who have lost children to the epidemic of senseless gun violence. These things are resonating in the atmosphere of our world;

there is so much heartache and pain it seems hopeless. In addition, the media paints a grim picture of despair every day in our world. But I believe all is not lost, because I believe prayer still works and prayer still changes things.
There are millions of believers in this world, in our country and in our cities. God promises us in His Word, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14 Are you praying right now? “Man ought always to pray.” Luke 18:1

Q&A Interview - Pastor Melvin Taylor
G&G: Pastor Taylor, welcome back to Grace & Glory Magazine. It has been a while, and we are excited for this opportunity to talk with you again. Let’s catch up with what’s been happening since you were first featured on the cover, I also hear you are celebrating 25 years as Pastor of Faith Transformation Worship Center. How does it feel with 25 years of serving this ministry under your belt?
Pastor Taylor: First, I thank you for this opportunity to share the ministry and give you some history. In our first cover feature we were Word of Faith international ministries until recently; 2023 we had the name changed, which I will share later in this interview. To catch up there have been some challenges, the greatest of them were in the beginning of 2021. They were personal challenges, first with getting vertigo, loss of hearing, cancer, divorce, all within a few months. Even with these challenges we were able to continue to lead the ministry. In 2023 we shifted some things and renamed the ministry Faith Transformation Worship Center and began realigning the leadership and appointing new leaders. Yes, we are celebrating 25 years, as to how I feel? I must say I have mixed emotions, a lot of sacrifices were made, and there were a lot of missed opportunities. My feelings are there is more to do.
G&G: Pastor Taylor, was there a point in your ministry journey when you realized that God had called you to an assignment of this magnitude?
Pastor Taylor: When I look back at these 25 years and the journey, and it was a journey, with extensive travel to over 9 countries from Central America, 3 countries in Africa, Europe, Haiti (where schools were built), to many places too many to share. This journey, this assignment extended far beyond the scope of church and religion, with only a high school education and no real organizational support. The thing is there are so many testimonies and so many experiences of what God has done in so short of time. It was my only hope to be able to pave the way both locally and internationally for others to be able to experience the fullness of God.
G&G: Pastor Taylor, after 25 years as Pastor of Faith Transformation Worship Center, what accomplishments are you most proud of and have given you the most satisfaction?
Pastor Taylor: To answer the question about these 25 years of service and my assignment being completed and the journey, first I didn’t see it as an assignment, just something God wanted to do. When I started the ministry, I was still serving as a deacon at my church, I don’t believe I had preached my first initial sermon. I guess when I realized it was my assignment it wasn’t until recently, when I decided to let go and move on, that’s when I realized that it was just my assignment for that season of my life. I plan to share more in my book “Next Level Assignment.”
G&G: Pastor Taylor, looking back at where you were when you started this journey, where did you think it was going to lead you? Are you at all surprised at where you are today?
Pastor Taylor: Things I’m most proud of in these 25 years, 24 years as Word of Faith International. Another would be how we as a ministry, not a large membership, were able to support and continue to support our community, with yearly giveaways, street services, and sponsoring community carnivals. We were at the point where we were receiving donations from three area Home Depots and had our own full-time warehouse with volunteers to store and distribute. Also, there’s 20 years of foreign missions mainly in Haiti, schools, food programs, shipping of ministry vehicles, and financial support. And not only did I pastor in our community, but I served our community politically as well. I served two years on the board of appeals for the city of Aberdeen, next I was elected city councilman and served 4 years and ran an unsuccessful campaign for Mayor. I was able to assist and help so many people in our community thanks to God’s favor.
G&G: Pastor Taylor, I understand this coming September, there is a change on the horizon for Faith Transformation Worship Center, would you share with us what is in store for this ministry?
Continued on page 10
Continued from page 9
Pastor Taylor: As to the September transition service and the change on the horizon, what I see is tremendous growth for the new administration, they are young and full of ambition, with a vision to carry on what was started 25 years prior.
♦ ♦ ♦
G&G: Pastor Taylor, let’s shift a little bit and talk about some things that happened in your life a few years ago. First, I understand you experienced some serious health issues, would you tell us what happened? Did these health issues challenge your faith walk with God? How are you doing now?
Pastor Taylor: To the question of my health issues, let’s start with New Year’s Eve 2020 going into 2021, in my office preparing my sermon, the Holy Spirit spoke to me with “the stakes are too high”, immediately I knew what was being said. My response was, “I’m all in”, that was my message for New Year’s. And I knew what was to come next. And it did in the matter of about a week, my health began to decline, first vertigo which took my ability to walk straight which I still suffer with at times. A week later the loss of hearing, and after many tests thinking there was a heart issue, it was cancer. Lymphoma, blood cancer, no cure just treatment. Challenging to my faith walk? It is making my faith walk even stronger, I wish I could tell how, it’s too much to tell. I’m doing well and still adjusting.
G&G: Pastor Taylor, you mentioned that during this time, you suffered hearing loss and had to minister while deaf? Tell us what was it like ministering while you could not hear?
Pastor Taylor: One thing people don’t understand is there Is no compete silence, your brain creates a constant noise 24/7. At first it was very challenging to the point I was ready to give up, and at one point ready to take my life, but there were people praying for me concerning this noise. No God didn’t take the hearing, He just gave me peace in spite of the noise. Yes, I continued to minister; it was challenging, there were no Amens to hear, no worship to hear, no Hammond organ to help, just God. To help communicate I have an app on my phone that interprets for me. I have it on my iPad for meetings and in service I put a flatscreen tv upfront in the sanctuary that reads off what’s being said. I still travel out of the country, I mostly travel alone on the mission field, to Haiti a few times, to the Dominican 3 or 4 times, and Turks and Caicos many times preaching on those occasions.
G&G: Pastor Taylor, you shared with me that you also went through another life challenge, the dissolving of your marriage. Is there anything that you would like to share about the divorce and the impact it had on your life and the ministry?
Pastor Taylor: As to my marriage of over 30 years, there were challenges before my sickness, we were being counseled but unfortunately, we separated and divorced. It was a huge impact to my life, divorce was never the plan, I was raised in a family of ten, family was the most important thing to me outside of God. Whenever your relationship with a person is a challenge trying to keep everything going, eventually you lose something; not sure if I lost focus on my marriage or not, but ministry and marriage is challenging. I continued with the church and eventually things worked out. I recently remarried and relocated to Louisiana.
G&G: Pastor Taylor, let’s talk about the book you are writing, what led you to write this book, and what would you like readers to walk away with after reading it?
Pastor Taylor: Yes, I am in the process of writing my first book with another in progress. What led me to writing was that when I found myself writing sermons, they seemed to take on a life of their own. This book “The Assignment“, reflects the feeling I get when I think of what’s going on personally, seeing how my life journey has taken me this far, some of the risks taken, my faith walk, and at times when it seems like God has others going one way and he sends you in another direction. Having a church and being a pastor, getting elevated with titles is one thing, but a God given assignment is altogether different, even as I write this to you, you begin to have a different outlook on your life and mission.
G&G: Pastor Taylor, you mentioned you have a new ministry focus, Next Level Ministries. What is the vision and focus for this ministry?
Pastor Taylor: The new ministry focus is “Next Level Ministry” the vision for this ministry is help and assist pastors and leaders with the focus of moving beyond where they are at, for them to refocus, reflect, re-energize their ministries, and getting to the next level.
G&G: Pastor Taylor, after the transition that is going to take place for the Faith Transformation Worship Center, what is next for Pastor Melvin Taylor, what is your next assignment?
Pastor Taylor: In this transition, with Faith Transformation, what takes place is this and this is very important, and I will share this with you. Yes, we have plans for ministry continuing the work, moving to the next assignment, and building Gods kingdom.
G&G: Pastor Taylor, it takes incredible strength to go through all you have been through. Is there anything else or any final thoughts you would like to share with us about your personal journey and/or your ministry journey?
Pastor Taylor: Yes, you are correct. This health issue along with not being able to hear is very challenging when out in public constantly having to say I can’t hear you or I’m deaf I can’t hear. At times I see people feeling uncomfortable being around feeling sorry for me, the thing is while I may not hear naturally, I can hear God so clearly. People feel sorry for me, but I feel sorry for those that can hear sound but can’t hear God. The thing about hearing is, 75% of how we learn is from what we hear. For instance, if someone gives me their name, I would have to consciously place it in my memory. If not, I will quickly forget it. Also because of lack of hearing you live mostly in your thoughts and your thinking. What is essential for survival is a great support system, my family, my children, my siblings, my friends, my wife and God is what helps me to where I am today. I have told people this and I’m not sure if anyone would believe me or not, but the challenges before all of this, the dark places I had to endure, this cancer, this loss of hearing, divorce, and losing my business, actually saved my life. Truth is, in my life span, starting with the community where I grew up, my family and friends, along with all the places I’ve been blessed to travel around the world and doors that were open (too many to mention), if God didn’t do another thing for me, all that He has already done would last to the rest of my life. Hopefully this was helpful.

Mental Health Is Wealth
July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. This month honors the legacy of author, advocate, and trailblazer Bebe Moore Campbell by recognizing Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. Moore Campbell’s ability to tell impactful stories highlighting themes of racism, mental health, and family left a lasting mark on this world and is a foundation for much of the work that continues in support of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) (mhanational.org). Mental health has been a hot topic for the past few years especially with the covid-19 pandemic heightening the awareness of anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation with an increase in attempts especially for Black youth. Mental health is wealth because our minds govern our actions. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (NKJV).
Our thoughts can lead us to make choices that can impact our mental health which in turn impacts our lives overall.
We are in a pivotal moment when we can share the importance of mental health and its impact on every area of our lives. We must start talking about mental health more openly in our homes, communities and churches. Breaking the silence around mental health can lead to conversations that lead to healing. We can no longer afford to sweep these issues under the rug or say that our community does not struggle with mental health because we address our concerns at home. What we now know because of more people speaking up, is that some people lived in homes and with families that were abusive and sometimes this resulted in mental distress over time.
Mental health is wealth because if our thoughts, behaviors and actions lead us into more harmful situations than helpful ones, we ultimately may have long term effects. Depression, anxiety and stress impact our blood pressure, blood sugar and the ability to fight infection. Our minds are powerful and need to be treated with care through proper rest, nutrition and exercise. All these lead to a healthier mind and body. These are building blocks for good mental health along with adequate and safe housing, a livable wage and a loving support system. Remind yourself that prioritizing your mental health is just as important as making sure your medical health is addressed.
“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well”, 3 John 1:2 (NIV).

What Has He Done For You Lately?
In 1986 I was the tender age of six years old, but I absolutely remember the hit song by Janet Jackson entitled, “What Have You Done for Me Lately.” I know many of you remember that song. It was off her album, Control. In this song, she is expressing her disappointment for not being treated the way in which she feels she deserves. She feels neglected, and unappreciated. It is a song that many of us can dance to, but when you listen to the words, Janet is not in the mood for dancing.
Aren’t you glad that when we think about that song as it relates to what God has done for us, we can dance and sing different lyrics? Lyrics that speak to His great grace, mercy, love, and faithfulness towards us. So, let me ask you, what has God done for you lately? And because He has been so good, let me add, “Ooh, ooh, ooh, yeah!” Our God is so good that we do not have to think of it from a position of yesterday, or last week or last month. What has God done for you lately means in this very moment, breath, and season of your life.
Get out of that pity party and get your dance on. Our God is faithful, and for some of you, He is doing a NEW thing in your life. You are literally springing forward and upward. Has He given you restoration, healing, and/or hope? Has He accelerated some things that man cannot take credit for if he tried? Oh, my sisters and my brothers, what has God done for you lately? Janet Jackson sings more about what someone use to do, but we can sing more about what God continues to do. I trust and believe that despite whatever situation and circumstance you are going through, God continues to show up for you. Even when it does not feel good, all things are working together for your good.
I want to challenge you to start a monthly brag book.
Let me tell you it’s okay, to BRAG on God. It’s okay to get so overwhelmed with joy that you cannot keep it to yourself. It’s okay to let the world know that the God you serve continues to perfect those things that concern you. (Psalm 138:8) Please do not fret or give up in this season in your life. I trust and believe that you have so much to be grateful for.
When you BRAG on God, it takes the focus off man. When you BRAG on God, it takes the focus off your emotions. When you BRAG on God, it humbles you. When you BRAG on God, it eliminates pride. When you BRAG on God, He can use you. When you BRAG on God, He will exalt you. When you BRAG on God, He can surprise you. When you BRAG on God, you strengthen the weak. When you BRAG on God, you are a witness to the lost. When you BRAG on God, He inhabits your praise!
If you have not already, this is a great time to start your BRAG book. As we enter a new season and the third quarter of 2024, shake the dust off your feet. Let me say that again, “Shake the dust off your feet!” You have not forgotten how to dance. You have not forgotten from whence all your help comes from. You have not forgotten the one who created you and formed you in your mother’s womb! It’s time to BRAG on God. If you do not, the birds will. Just take time to listen to them in the morning. Trust me, they are bragging all day long. Stop looking for God to only bless you one way, or to bless you like He did someone else. If that is His choice, so be it. However, we serve a God that may send a dove, or a raven! Nevertheless, you got fed! The Lord either provided the confirmation you needed or gave you strength for your journey ahead. I just need to know, what has God done for you lately? It’s time to BRAG on Him. He is worthy!!!

What Fuels You TURNER
This year for me is a big double-digit year. My life is changing, and I’ve been tasked with an assignment. My love language is giving. I adore that part of my personality. It reflects me in every area of my life. But with me being a giver I always overlook the person that means the most outside of God . . . Me. I realized that I was getting older, and I was changing, and I didn’t want to have a midlife crisis and go do something outlandish. I was talking with a coworker, and she asked a question. She said does your social barometer ever get depleted. She went on to say that I’ve worked with you for about 6 months and watching you go has made me tired. She asked me what recharges you. What makes you happy. I answered giving to others. I get so excited when I see someone else smile. She started me on this journey of finding things that fuel me outside of giving to others.
So, my journey begins. My assignment that I’ve tasked myself with is doing something that makes me happy. I thought for a moment that I didn’t love myself because I didn’t give unto myself as I did for others. Matthew 19:19b ESV, “and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” For a moment the devil had me believing that because I wasn’t giving to myself, I wasn’t loving myself, which subsequently I wasn’t honoring the word. I was saddened by that. During prayer God silenced any thought of that negative thinking that I was having. I love myself so much because I give to my neighbor. It gives me so much joy to see others happy. From time to time, I would give until I was exhausted because I didn’t want to see someone else unhappy.
With my new assignment I’m finding activities that I would enjoy. I told my husband that grocery shopping is something I truly enjoy it quiets my mind and I’m able to hear clearly. He said that didn’t count because it’s for someone else. Needless to say, I wasn’t happy with that answer. During this journey I’ve found something that was nice to do but just wasn’t my cup of tea, like painting pottery; the groups that I was with had a blast and the entire time I was unsettled. I took a long walk and that was calming but I live in Arizona and a couple months out of the year that may not be possible. I have a couple of things planned so we will see.
To be honest I’m not even sure what I should feel, or how I’ll even know. However, I’m not giving up I’m going to continue to look deep to find what fuels me. While on this journey I’ll keep you posted. Thank you for sharing in this journey with me.

DAILY DEVOTIONS
(Excerpts
from NEW DAY FRESH START- by Brandie Manigault)
DAY 1
What you have will never be enough and will always be enough at the same time. There are times when you may look at what you have (your gifts and talents) and think it is insufficient. When looking at the big picture it may seem insignificant, but do not be discouraged. When you submit all you have to the Lord it will be more than enough to bless not only you and your house, but it will be a blessing to the masses. What you think and view as small the Lord will bless and multiply it to meet the needs of you, your family, your friends, and strangers.
Challenge: Today, challenge yourself to submit what you have to the Lord. Give Him the “ok” to use your voice, your writings, your artwork, and watch how many lives, including yours, will be impacted.
Matthew 14:17-20 NKJV, “And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.”
DAY 2
You have to know Him for yourself. There are times when the things that others have told you about Christ will suffice, but then there are times when only a personal revelation will do; something birthed out of your walk and talk with the Lord (relationship). This personal revelation will not only give you a different perspective and insight of the Lord, but it will teach you so much about yourself. A revelation of who He is will unlock the truth about who you are.
Challenge: Today challenge yourself to spend a few extra minutes with Him cultivating your relationship. Learn more about Him and more about you.
Matthew 16:16-19 NKJV, “Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.””
DAY 3
What do you do when you have done all that you know to do; you have sought counsel and asked for help, and nothing has changed for you? You keep pushing. You keep moving forward. You stay persistent. You don’t stop until you see a change. There will be times when a setback comes and wants to knock you down, but you have to remain strong and focused on what you want. You will get your desired results if you keep going until you get the right answer from the right person.
Challenge: Today challenge yourself to not give up until you are satisfied with the results of your pursuit.
Matthew 17:15-18 NKJV, ““Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.”
DAY 4
Once we get into a routine our day-to-day life does not take much to maintain. We know who to call at what time, which bus to take, and which prayer to pray when someone asks; but what happens when what we’ve been doing doesn’t seem to be effective? There will be instances where a greater effort is required of us in order to get the job done; when we have to take what we have already been doing and add to it. It may require us to call more to check on family members or get to work earlier to finish the project. We may even have to pray differently. Some things will only change with a greater effort made.
Challenge: Today challenge yourself to evaluate what’s working for you and what’s not and then try to put forth a greater effort to see things change.
Matthew 17:19-21NKJV, “Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.””
DAY 5
It is inevitable that offenses will come. It is what we choose to do with that offense that will make all the difference. Offense undealt with will fester on the inside like a poison to your body. It will breed resentment, hatred, and disdain. It will alter your mood and your attitude especially in the presence of the one that hurt you. Offense must be addressed in order to preserve the essence of who you are. The end result may or may not be a lifetime friendship, but you will have put yourself in a position to move forward by doing so.

Matthew 18:15 (MSG), “If a fellow believer hurts you, go and tell him — work it out between the two of you. If he listens, you’ve made a friend.”

Preventing Compassion Fatique
God directs us to be compassionate. Ephesians 4:32 directs us to “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” 1 Peter 3:8 tells us to “Be like-minded, be sympathetic,
Compassion is the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another’s suffering and desire to help relieve that suffering. Compassion is when you relate to someone’s situation. You understand what the person is experiencing and want to help them. You deeply relate to the emotions, suffering, and trauma of another. Feelings of compassion motivate people to go out of their way to relieve the physical, mental, or emotional pains of others. You may help by listening to the individual, helping them make decisions, or assisting them in completing tasks. Feelings of compassion are rooted in kindness and the appreciation and recognition of others as feeling people. Compassion is an emotional response to empathy or sympathy and creates a desire to help. Jesus was compassionate when he experienced the suffering of individuals. As Christians, we emulate Jesus by going to the aid of others.
Being compassionate and taking on the burdens of another can weigh down your emotions. You can expereince compassion fatique. Pastors, ministry leaders, and counselors are at risk of developing compassion fatigue due to frequent and prolonged exposure to the suffering and trauma of others. Compassion fatigue is closely related to burnout. You may begin to experience anxiety, exhaustion, and feeling overwhelmed when listening and responding to the problems of others.
Risk factors and triggers for compassion fatigue include sustained exposure to pain, suffering, and traumatic events of others; the perceived inability to help others resolve issues; deep personal identification with another’s problems; and lack of self-care. Behaviors of avoidance, apathy, and restlessness are symptoms of the disorder. Manifestations of compassion fatigue may include GI disturbances, depression, headaches, and sleeplessness. Emotional manifestations of compassion fatigue are related to coping strategies the caring person adopts. Substance abuse, apathy, depersonalization, lack of connection
to others, and insensitivity protect the individual from continuing to absorb the problems of others.
Compassion fatigue is sometimes called a secondary stress reaction, secondhand shock, secondary traumatic stress, or vicarious trauma. Compassion fatigue is an occupational hazard for those frequently placed in the role of supporting people in stressful situations. Compassion fatigue is a threat to church organizations. Our humanity and desire to have the compassion of Jesus puts us at risk of developing compassion fatigue. Overwhelmed ministry leaders and workers can become apathetic and perceived as uncaring.
Practicing mindfulness and meditation on God’s word can restore the spirit and reduce compassion fatigue. Mindfulness means being aware of your needs. Consciously taking time to relax and destress will help relieve overwhelming feelings. Pause when you feel uncomfortable emotions or caught up with thoughts that focus on the challenges and difficulties of another. Accept that it is okay to take time to care for yourself. Find time to be quiet before God. Linger in the silent moment. Talk over your feelings with your spouse, a mentor, or a trusted friend. Seek professional counseling if necessary.
Compassion fatigue is a response to our humanity and love for others. Our desire to help others can be overwhelming. Engaging in mindful activities can build resilience skills that can diminish catastrophic thinking, reduce anxiety, and improve your coping ability.
Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.”
Dr. Denyce Watties-Daniels Assistant Professor at Coppin State University
At around three this morning, God woke me up with this on my mind: “It’s here! I made it! I can’t believe I’m 29!” Then, I remembered that I’m not 29, but my birthday’s on the 29th. I had to laugh at myself on that one. You see, the reason I even thought about the fact that I was “29” is because I didn’t think I’d make it to 29. At the age of 12, I tried to commit suicide because I couldn’t fathom growing up to continue simply existing. That’s how I felt about my life. I literally told God that if this was it, take me now. He didn’t listen to me, so I tried to end it myself, but God.
Then, at 16, I had my first taste of what was later diagnosed as endometriosis. That little culprit led to many miscarriages ( , two of which almost took me out as well, but God). Fast forward many years later and I found myself dealing with various illnesses including cancer. On one particular occasion, I’d gone to the doctor for my yearly mammogram, and they discovered 4 lumps on one side and 5 on the other. On the day of my biopsy, my doctor told the nurse he wanted another x-ray. She looked at him like he was crazy, but of course they did as he’d requested. The outcome was that not even one lump was found. But God!
Between 2011 to 2014, my life was slowly
ebbing away. I could actually feel it. I couldn’t explain it, but I felt it. Then, God sent a team of military doctors who were determined to find out why I was sick. They sent me to specialist after specialist. Finally, the cause was discovered and in December of 2014, I had major surgery to fix my problem. After spending 9 days in the hospital, I’d only been at home for about 4 or 5 days when my kidneys started to shut down, but God!
On July 29, 2016, I found my body under attack, yet again. However, since I knew what God had done in the past, I had faith that He’ll do it again. Though I may not understand, I can certainly trust in Him with ALL my heart. I can trust that He’s got a plan for me. His plan is far better than any plan I could ever conceive of.
My whole point is this, we live in a sin sick world and as such, there will be things that we may experience, from time to time. However, we can trust our Father to deliver us out of them all. He may not do it the way we think or as quickly as we would like, but we can rest assured that HE WILL DO IT! I should be dead, BUT GOD!
Today, make a decision to trust in the Lord with all your heart, no matter what. Selah.

Tip 1
Time’s up for random, generalizations like, “I want to be financially secure” or “I don’t want to live paycheck to paycheck.” You have to start getting personal and realistic with your goals. Be done with going after stuff because someone else has it or has done it! Make a plan just for you. What’s a specific financial goal you have?
Tip 2
Having a goal is only the beginning. Changing your current financial situation and future legacy will take more than just you and a plan. Having proper accountability SIGNIFICANTLY increases your chances for success!
Tip 3
Create a pattern of saving early. Let the kids know saving can be fun and rewarding, rather than a chore.
